Watch Sherri Shepherd’s Tearful Good-Bye On The View…Cites Personal Life & Bible As Driving Factors
After remaining quiet, Sherri Shepherd is finally speaking out regarding her departure from The View. Just weeks ago it was announced that Sherri would not be returning to The View, and in solidarity, Jenny McCarthy also announced her departure from the show. No one knows for certain why Sherri is leaving *whispers money* but she has known since spring when her contract was up that she would not be returning for another season.
A lot of producers have known since the spring that I didn’t intend to return after my contract ends in August…I didn’t want to discuss anything in my personal life because I didn’t want to do anything to distract from Barbara Walters and her celebration in May.
You know I’m a woman of faith, and seven is the number of God’s completion. I’ve been here seven years, and my time with The View is complete. I’m going to forever be grateful to Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie for taking a chance on an actress and making me learn things, helping me step out of my comfort zone. They gave me a chance.
As you know, Sherri Shepherd is going through a bitter divorce that includes a battle over a surrogate baby not yet born. So part of the reason for her departure is clearly to keep her private life private, and prevent it from overshadowing Barbara Walters’s retirement, or becoming a hot topic on the show. But all is not lost, Sherri leaves the show on a good note, thanking the show for the many great friendships she’s made over the years and for giving her a chance in the first place.
