Life Ain’t All Glitter & Butterflies For Mariah…Tragic News For Her New Album
Poor Mariah. The biggest selling artist of all time released her new album last week and the results were tragic..to say the least. The album, Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse only managed to shift 56,000 copies in its opening week on the Billboard 200.
Music experts know that across the board album sales have been down for all artists over the past few years but given Mariah’s extensive, loyal fan-base, and her history as someone who can sell albums, her under-performance is devastating and most likely incredibly embarrassing for the talented songstress.
Let’s put things into perspective: her previous album, 2009’s Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, also did not debut to tremendous fanfare, still it sold three times as many copies as ‘Elusive Chanteuse’. The album before that, 2008’s E=MC2, was a massive hit, moving 463,000 copies in its first week.
Let’s hope Mariah Carey’s camp has a game-plan to resurrect what has once again become an ailing career. The talent is (mostly) still there. Fingers crossed Mariah will rise again. Ouch!
