Friday Funnies: Billy Crystal Is The New Oscar Host + Why Eddie Should Have Been
Friday’s back! *Diddy bops across stage* Only a few days ago, we reported that Eddie Murphy had stepped down as host of the Oscars, to show support for director Brett Ratner. Ratner stepped down as producer of the show, after being quoted as saying a homophobic slur. Yesterday, actor Billy Crystal was announced to the the new host of the Oscars.
Here’s the thing. I like Billy Crystal. You know…he’s cool. Still. I think. I haven’t seen him in anything in a minute but he was great in The Princess Bride! And who could forget the Comic Relief specials he did with Whoopi Goldberg and Robin Williams?? HEE-LARRY-US!!!! However…I was looking forward to old school, Saturday Night Live Eddie coming out. Buckwheat, Velvet Jones, Stevie Wonder…pure genius and just as funny today. One of his most memorable roles was his take on Mr. Robinson’s Neighborhood…empahsis on HOOD. Check out the classic clip that is just as funny today as it was 20 years ago, after the jump…
This is funny enough to start an Occupy Eddie Murphy movement.
