Washing D.C. 5.9 Magnitude EarthQuake Strikes

Even Mother Earth is not happy with Washington D.C. right now!  A 5.9 magnitude earthquake strikes right outside the DC area in Mineral, VA. The earthquake, is reportedly the largest earthquake in the DC area thus far. There are no injuries reported at this time.

The quake, which struck at 1:51 p.m., was shallow — just 3.7 miles deep — and was located 83 miles southwest of Washington and 41miles northwest of Richmond, Virginia.

The FBI evacuated its building in Washington. At the Pentagon, police announced that anyone inside could “shelter in place” while security and emergency personnel checked the building for damage.

A number of other buildings were evacuated, as far away as North Carolina and New York, witnesses reported. {Washington DC Earthquake via CNN}
