Jesse Jackson: Cavalier’s Owner Sees LeBron James As A ‘Runaway Slave’
I know everyone is aware of Cleveland Cavaliers owner, Danny Gilbert, bashing Lebron James for joining the Miami Heat. Well a lot of people thought that Gilbert’s bashing was a little bit too angry and personal. Jesse Jackson puts it in a way that doesn’t seem that far off:
He speaks as an owner of LeBron and not the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers. His feelings of betrayal personify a slave master mentality. He sees LeBron as a runaway slave.
Ouch. Though I would probably go with Gilbert just throwing a hissy fit over losing the best player in the NBA (therefore losing stock money), I do agree with the first part of the following statement that Jackson made:
LeBron is not a child, nor is he bound to play on Gilbert’s plantation and be demeaned. He has been a model citizen and has inspired the children of Akron, Cleveland, the State of Ohio and the United States.
What do you think? Is Lebron being treated like a slave?
