Jermaine Dupri and Janet Jackson were spotted at the Grand Opening of the Palms Resort on Jumeirah Island in Dubai.

For some reason, JD looks a lot taller than normal.  Anywho, Nelly was spotted hitting up the poker table at the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas.

I see he was trying real hard to be incognito, but there always someone around to snap a photo.

Like every other celebrity in the world, both Will Smith and Rosario Dawson were in Miami earlier in the week.  The duo was in town for the Seven Pounds movie premiere at AMC Sunset. The movie hits theaters on December 15th.

I love the interaction that they were having with the fans, and i’ve noticed that all the male celebrities are rocking the grey suit here lately.

Check out the Seven Pounds trailer:

Has she had a day off in the past two weeks?, is the question that keeps running through my mind about Beyonce.  Last night, B hosted Gotham Magazine’s annual gala in NYC.

In case you missed them, check out B’s cover and spread in the current Gotham issue.  Meanwhile, Melanie Brown attended a news conference at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Vegas to announce the new production, “PEEPSHOW.”

Mel B will be part of the multi-million dollar show, created and directed by Jerry Mitchell, which opens for preview performances on March 30, 2009.

Big Boi, of OutKast, looked dapper in his grey suit at the GQ Men of the Year party held at the Chateau Marmont in LA.

Back in September I posted up a blog post on this MLH peacock sequin dress…as seen on Aubrey O’Day and Ashanti.

Since then the dress made another appearance via Danity Kane’s Dawn Richard and her hot Dior wedge cut-out sandals.

So this question goes out to all Mrs. Grapevine readers, which lady pulled off the look - Ashanti, Aubrey O’Day or Dawn?

I guess I have to reveal my age on this theme. I also had to do a lot of research to find the perfect songs. I found a group that I love and the name of that group is Rose Royce. When my mom and I went on road trips, this first song we always song together; it was one of the many songs we shared. I can listen to this song on repeat non-stop all day everyday. It’s just one of those songs you can chill to. It’s from the movie Car Wash, and I know I’ve played it here before, but I just love this song so much.

I Wanna Get Next To You

This second song is also by Rose Royce. This is the worst song to listen to after a break-up, it will make you want to drink a bottle of vodka and act a fool with your ex. I wouldn’t know, but when Mary J Blige remade this song, that’s exactly what she was doing. Let’s just be happy she has moved on from those days.

The fashion world is thoroughly excited about designing Michelle Obama’s Inauguration look. So far designers Marc Bouwer, Reem Acra and Isabel Toledo have offer their sketch designs to People’s fashion blog, Off The Rack.

The hype surrouding what Michelle would wear when her husband President-Elect Barack Obama gets sworn in as the 44th Commander in Chief is quite off the charts. There’s even talks of Michelle having her own Vogue cover.

Even Project Runway designers have a few designs in mind for the First Lady-Elect.

So far I think the off the shoulder Marc Bouwer dress is a winner but that decison is all up to Michelle. Your thoughts?

The 2008 World Music Awards was held in Monte Carlo, Monaco this Sunday with many familar faces in attendance.

Alicia Keys switched out her purple strapless dress to perform in black Yves Saint Laurent mary jane platforms. A new single from Alicia’s upcoming album re-release “As I Am: The Super Edition” circulated around the music scene this past week. Check out Alicia’s new song, “Savior” here.

Solange looked fab on and off stage as did the event’s co-host Michelle Williams. Hate to say this but where is Kelly Rowland??

Beyonce Sasha Fierce kept it funky in bronze Extreme Dior gladiator sandals for her “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” performance.

Estelle had on the same Giuseppe Zanotti peep toe wedges that Ciara wore for her controversial “Vibe” magazine cover. Back in the press room with her well deserved Best R&B Act award, Estelle flaunted her purple and gold Pierre Hardy moire velvet sandals.

The Cannons as I like to call these two complimented one another on and off the stage as Quick blogged about. You gotta love Mariah’s red Diane von Furstenberg dress. (Did you notice how Nick’s watch matched her outfit?!)

Be sure to catch the televised event on MyNetwork TV on December 2nd. So which looks did you prefer?

Newlyweds Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey were all smiles backstage at the World Music Awards which took place last night in Monte Carlo, France.

Earlier in the night, Alicia Keys presented Mariah with the WMA Special Achievement honor.

Now this sparkly number is more like MiMi.  It seems that the singer has toned down her image a bit in the past few months. For more coverage from the World Music Awards, head to Quick’s Catch Up.

So many choices, I just had a hard time with this one. I’m so glad it’s over because of the results. I am on cloud nine and I feel like playing some Lil’ John, and getting crunk, but I decided to play it low key. So, I picked my favorite singer in the world, singing one of the oldest songs we know…

Let’s do that again, this time with Ms Whitney Houston.

This is the last time, I promise. My heart goes out to Jennifer Hudson and her family. This song just has new meaning, and I just can’t get enough.

Many celebrities were spotted at the Barack Obama victory party at the Underground in Chicago last night.

Forest & Keisha Whitaker

Common (and his favorite bow tie) was the socialite of the event.  He made his rounds with Star Jones, Toccara, and AJ (remember him from 106th & Park?). Did any of you attend any victory parties?

UPDATE: I guess my new response is that these tears are genuine, I was a little suspect, but I will give him the benefit of my doubt. After all, as revealed in the comments, he has seen a lot and been through a lot which helped this moment come true. Perhaps I’m biased because I got caught up in the campaign. So deep down inside, maybe he’s just happy for President Barack Obama, as well as his son, Jesse Jackson, Jr.

Question 1: Was Jesse Jackson tears genuine?

Now to move on from the negative. I feel like I’m the only one that notice the tears pooling in President Barack Obama’s eyes. It seems that every hug brought him one step closer to tears. It was a bittersweet moment knowing “Toot” wasn’t there to share it with him, I sensed a bit of sadness in his smile. This picture was taken while President Barack Obama was telling the crowd about the loss of his grandma, the night before his win.

Thank God, he has a strong beautiful black woman by his side. Michelle Obama loves him so much, the camera can’t even disguise it. Here is one moment that really captures the bond they share.

Next is our new First Family. I don’t think it could get anymore picture perfect than this. We are all realist, but we can dream, too. We know their will be lots of challenges ahead, but for this moment we are all “PROUD”. If you don’t feel it, then maybe you have been part of the problem all these years. To America’s Future…

Every since 9/11, I have had such a love for this country. That day reminded us all that we’re Americans first. After Election Night 2008, the words of the National Anthem carries on more meaning than before. “Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave,  O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!”

People are inspired all across this country, if you have a dream, now just may be the time to try. It’s time to tell your children think big. No, we all won’t make it, but you have a better chance if you try.

So I leave with tears. Whatever the reason last night, many people had a good cry. Oprah cried until her fake eyelashes fell off. I cried because my mother missed it, and I cried because my son lives it.

Election day has arrived, but yesterday Obama supporters worked diligently to encourage turnout at the polls for the Democratic nominee.  Obama’s former competitor, Hilary Clinton, spoke at a rally in St. Charles, Missouri.

Meanwhile, Obama campaign volunteers ran a phone bank in McCain’s home state (and battleground state) of Phoenix, Arizona.

The latest CNN polls show Obama leading McCain, but battleground states include FLORIDA, North Carolina, and Arizona.

Madelyn Dunham, the grandma of Presidential candidate Barack Obama passed away from complications of cancer. This is so sad to die on the eve of the election. I know she tried to hold on, but in her heart she knows he will win. My prayers go out to the Obama family, and I’m glad he took the time off from the campaign to spend time with “toot” as he called her. This was the last of his past. I know all too well how this feels.

[I chose this picture because this how proud his grandma will be tomorrow]

Excerpt: FORT LAUDERDALE - Hundreds of early voters at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center pepped up when Hip Hop royalty appeared unexpectedly, urging voters to support Barack Obama for president.

Mary J. Blige, Jay-Z and Beyonce, Diddy and Russell Simmons had voters screaming, reaching for cell phone cameras and forming a throng around the library on Sistrunk Boulevard when the stars arrived in a fleet of black SUVs to shake hands, take pictures and stump for Obama. [Source]

Many of the stars for Obama -- including Beyonce, Jay-Z, Mary J Blige, Sean "Diddy" Combs and Russell Simmons -- campaigned together in Florida.
