Congratulations to Chris Brown who has completed his 90-day court ordered stint in rehab. I don’t know what the future will bring, but I hope some time away has taught him something positive, and will keep him out of jail for fighting. According to E! Online the R&B singer has voluntarily extended his stay in anger management rehab, which to me screams progress.
The singer is starting the year off right after also receiving the Second Chance At Loving Life award from 2nd Call for his work in reducing street violence and trying to unite LA gangs through his own organization the Symphonic Love Foundation and Unity Campaign. He also announces his return to Instagram changing his handler to Chris Brown Official instead of F@$% Yo Pictures! Last but certainly not least the singer also announces the release date for his new album, X, on May 5th.
Chris Brown seemed to be in healthier spirits this past weekend while he attended the 2nd Call Awards where he was honored for all the work he has done thus far with his community service. Aside from his outing this past weekend he has been working musically. He announced via. Twitter that the release date for his next album X will be on May 5th, let’s just hope that the project really comes out this time. Also this weekend, he shot the music video for his single “Loyal”, which is expected to appear on X. Along with Tyga he also released their new single “B*tches” which will appear on their new joint project Fan of a Fan 2. The two debuted their first joint project Fan of a Fan the mixtape back in 2010, Fan of a Fan 2 is the follow up to that project, but this time it will be an actual album.

Unless you live under a rock, you should be very familiar with Happy, a song by Pharrell. This song makes me want to go outside and enjoy the sunshine while living my life like it’s golden. So Pharrell teams up with MasterCard for their Priceless Surprises campaign. Pharrell surprises one of his biggest fans named Queen. Queen is a drama teacher that teaches a preschool playgroup. Queen dressed like a fairy princess is dancing to the song Happy with her little playgroup when in walks Pharrell. Surprise! The moment is quite beautiful.
This song was meant for people like yourself. To keep you, keep me, keep them, keep us all going. You’re absolutely carrying the torch for em,the impetus of the record, and this is priceless what you do. The way you inspire these children, so thank you very much. It’s awesome. Surprising my fans…Priceless!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of talking with Bridget Kelly in conjunction with Music Choice to showcase their Black History Month programming. When asked who she felt was influential within Black History or history in general, Bridget named both Oprah Winfrey and First Lady Michelle Obama as two women who are great influences among today’s generation. She talked about wanting to follow in Beyonce’s foot steps by doing a visual album or concept. I also talked with her about her past and future projects, both her Every Girl EP (2011) and her Cut To. . .Bridget Kelly EP (2013) as well as her upcoming debut album Something Different (2014). With the 2014 Grammy Awards still fresh in our minds I wanted to know her thoughts on her “Street Dreamin” collaborator Kendrick Lamar not taking home an award that night and she said:
I think he was robbed, but I also know that it’s a game of politics and I think sometimes as artist we overlook it, what I will say is next year is going to be a year that he receives a lot more acknowledgement
