As we predicted, Jermaine Paul wins NBC’s The Voice last night. The former Alicia Keys background singer, proved that he deserves to be in the spotlight and America agreed. He was our favorite from day one!
It’s also amazing how Blake Shelton, one of country music’s biggest stars and who isn’t usually up for much of the strong R&B talent, was able to mentor and coach, Jermaine Paul to the top, but he did an amazing job throughout the entire competition.
The two-night season finale was packed with the most powerful, soulful and heavy-hitting performances that I’ve seen from a reality TV show competition in recent memory. I’m looking forward to hearing more from Jermaine Paul. Not only does he have a voice that R&B needs today, but he is already developed and experienced from touring with Alicia Keys and now doing live TV. He’s got a great look and can probably experiment with acting and modeling, but for now I am sure he is ready to hit the studio and work on an album through the recording contract he has won through the show.
Here is a look back on Jermaine Paul’s winning performance singing, “I Believe I Can Fly”:
No word on who’s performing, yet, but Vh1 DIVAS 2012 will feature a star-studded tribute to the late, great Whitney Houston. Disappointed with the way The Grammys honored Whitney, Vh1 has something really special planned for the true diva, but they are keeping most of the details under wrap. The 2012 DIVAS will air in December, and as soon as more information is available we will let you know. I hope they get Adele and someone, anyone who can actually sing LIVE.
Imagine what a show would be like if it was to match up bachelors and bachelorettes, but had people vying for their attention like the reality singing show The Voice. Well then, you’d have a new prime time dating show called The Choice. According to Entertainment Weekly, Fox network will debut this new spin on a dating show during the summer months. And if you ever wanted to date a celebrity, this might be the closest thing you may get:
In each episode, four celebrities sit in spinning chairs and listen to non-famous prospective dates pitch themselves. Over the course of three rounds, the contestant pool is paired down until each celebrity has chosen their date for the evening
Super model Tyson Beckford, rapper Romeo and actor Dean Cain are just some of the handsome bachelors they have lined up. There’s even a small list of bachelorettes, which hopefully will grow because women need love too! Check out the full list below:
Singer K Michelle is joining Mona’s Scott Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta, according to SingersRoom. I had the pleasure of interviewing K Michelle last year and she is one of the most honest and open entertainers in the field. She talked about everything from bad relationships, to stripping, to getting her college degree, and keeping her faith. In case you missed the interview, you can check it out here (K Michelle Exclusive). She is definitely out spoken and is not scared to tell it how she sees it. Therefore, I can’t wait to see what K Michelle brings to the table and hopefully it’s more about her music and less about the drama.
Michelle B from Straight From the A spoke about it back in March…I guess it’s official, now!
Mr. Box Office. a new sitcom, starring Bill Bellamy is set to hit the small screen this fall according to Deadline:
Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios has just started filming Mr. Box Office, a pilot for a multi-camera comedy series starring actor/comedian Bill Bellamy. Co-starring in the project, which is aiming at producing a minimum of 104 episodes over two years, are Saturday Night Live alum Tim Meadows, Vivica A. Fox (Independence Day), former NBA star/actor Rick Fox, Keshia Knight Pulliam (Cosby), Jon Lovitz (SNL) and Gary Busey.
Mr. Box Office centers on actor Marcus Jackson (Bellamy), one of the biggest movie stars in the world who, after pushing a paparazzi, finds himself having to put his film career on hold, while relegated to a long-term community service stint teaching underprivileged high school kids in South Central. Rick Fox will play a physical education teacher at the school. Vivica Fox will play a cougar history teacher.
No they didn’t cast Vivica A Fox as a cougar…SMH
Who here is a fan of the Khloe & Lamar show? Well, you may have to rely on reruns for a while because Khloe Kardashian shared with Access Hollywood that they will be taking a break from the show. Khloe assures everyone that it’s not a cancellation; they just want to spend some time together.
The star explained they want to focus on spending quality time with each other, family and focusing on the NBA star’s career. Lamar was recently placed on the Dallas Mavericks’ inactive list after a disappointing season on the court.
“We just want the summer to ourselves and for his kids and his career,” Khloe said of her husband, who has two children from a previous relationship. “It’s not an end, it’s just a pause.”
I don’t watch the show but after hearing about Lamar leaving my beloved Dallas Mavericks, I kind of figured they may need to rework some things. I don’t think they were expecting that at all. But, during their down time, Lamar will be considering what they may have in store for the next season:
