Sometimes controversy surprises and dominates it’s prey while other times controversy becomes desired or is perhaps even the goal of anything/anyone thirsty to be noticed. We’ve seen it work before- controversy eleveates an event, a product or even art to a hyped-level all due to squabbling or discussion. Brace yourself, the new move “Dear White People” doesn’t hit theaters until October, but is already making headlines and stirring up those sometimes awkward conversations about race that are perhaps now too important to avoid. In fact, it seems by the trailer that this movie is ready to tackle those questions head on!
“Dear White People” follows four black students as they navigate racial dynamics at their Ivy League college, Winchester University. The film seems to tackle every stereotype, old and new, while maintaining a moving storyline. The clip doesn’t shy away from controversy, as the climax comes with one white character asking: “How would you feel if someone started a Dear Black People?”

As October 21st quickly approaches TLC is making their promo rounds promoting their new album 20, which is a collection of their greatest hits and their new single “Meant To Be”. The group is also promoting their new biopic CrazySexyCool: The TLC Storywith cast members Drew Sidora, Lil Mama and Keke Palmer. Aside from the huge movie premiere, they have hit up Good Morning Americaperforming a medley of their hits, and they also hit up the Wendy Williams Show as they spoke significant events that occur in the film and also the special connections they have with each cast member.

Procter & Gamble has teamed up with My Black Is Beautiful in partnership with Black Girls Rock! and The United Negro College Fund, to empower millions of teen girls through an initiative entitled, Imagine A Future. The Imagine A Future initiate will provide scholarships, leadership camps, online interactive tools, plus a documentary series of the same name, Imagine A Future, featuring young teens that are changing the face of beauty through leadership.
During the BET Awards 2013 and The BET Live Experience, select media outlets, including MrsGrapevine.com, were invited to an Exclusive VIP Screening of the documetary. The documentary follows teen Janet Goldsboro as she travels to South Africa to explore the historical and modern context of self-esteem and black beauty. Imagine A Future also explores a broad range of beauty through personal interviews with celebrities like Gabourey Sidibe, Tatyana Ali, Melissa Harris-Perry, and Gabrielle Douglass to name a few.
