All I know is that the Texas Rangers weren’t in the World Series, and that the New York Yankees claimed victory over the Phillies. New York win was due to the fact that they were blessed by the voice of Mary J Blige, and her new angelic spirit. They better be glad a beautiful woman of faith was there to help them clinch this victory…(listen to audio below)
Vibe magazine’s latest issue features the fashion spread pairing up NFL players and R&B singers is simply hot! Very creative idea. The wardrobe is the business!
Shaquille O’Neal is the latest celeb to jump on the reality show bandwagon.
He will compete in a new sporting event each week in a new ABC reality series, “Shaq Vs.,” which will debut on Aug. 18, the network announced today.
Over the course of the series, O’Neal will challenge Olympian Michael Phelps in swimming; Super Bowl champ Pittsburgh Steeler Ben Roethlisberger in football; reigning U.S. Open, Australian Open and Wimbledon champion Serena Williams in tennis; championship fighter Oscar de la Hoya in boxing; St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols in baseball; and Olympic gold medalists Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor in beach volleyball.
According to USA Today, O’Neal said he came up with the idea as a fun way to help train for the NBA season and figured sports fans “would really want to see an athlete play another sport.” He knew most of the athletes and recruited some of them on Twitter. Filming begins Wednesday.
Is it me, or does it seem reality shows are getting a bit out of hand. Just about everybody and their mama (literally) are doing a show. It’s beyond ridiculous! What happened to the days of great sitcoms like ‘The Cosby Show’, ‘A Different World’, ‘The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air’ and ‘Family Matters’ etc.? I miss those days. They were/are classics.
Meanwhile, Iman, RuPaul, Deborah Cox, Vanessa Williams and gossip guru Wendy Williams were attending make-up artist, Sam Fine’s “The Basics of Beauty” DVD Launch Party in NYC.
My first thought was I can’t wait to hear why a black pro-athlete would not want to meet the first Black President of the United States. I was honestly hoping he was a conservative and was sticking to his political guns. But, then I read his excuse and I just shook my head.
According to James Harrison’s agent (who should be fired) the reason why Harrison is not going to the white house is because, “he just doesn’t want to go.” In the video below with WTAE, Harrison says that he’s not going because, “if you want to see the Pittsburgh Steelers, invite us when we don’t win the Super Bowl. As far as I’m concerned, [Obama] would’ve invited Arizona if they had won.”
When athletes are stunting for the cameras to get press time, things must be bad in the endorsement world. I guess his Super Bowl win didn’t generate him the income he really needs, or he just feels he’s a bigger rock star than Barack Obama…
Friday night, President Obama was spotted court side at the Wizards vs. Bulls game in Washington. Obama is a Bulls fan, and even invited the team to the White House earlier last week:
Unfortunately for the President, the Wizards won. While President Obama was watching the game, tennis champ Serena Williams hosted Gatorade G2’s “Everyday Athlete Search”:
This is a great look for Serena. The next tennis Grand Slam coming her way is the French Open which she won back in 2002.
I know this is not news to you, but I never see Vanessa Bryant smiling. I don’t know if she’s just excited about the win or the post-season checks (ouch, that was mean), but here is picture of Kobe’s wife smiling. In her defense I wouldn’t smile much knowing my husband had an affair and was accused of rape for choking a young woman that was barely legal, but it’s all in the past, and maybe that’s why she’s smiling again. Life is good?…
Facial expressions can say so much with so little effort, are these three related or what? This is a cute picture, kids inherit everything including frowns and smirks. Isn’t this the cutest family picture?
Federal agents investigating possible dogfighting searched property owned by Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick on Friday. According to ESPN,
A dozen cars and a U-Haul truck were parked Friday on property owned by Falcons quarterback Michael Vick in what appeared to be a second federal raid of the wooded site that has been the focus of a dogfighting probe.
A U.S. Department of Agriculture agent stationed at the gate on the southeastern Virginia property had no comment, ESPN’s Kelly Naqi reports. The USDA is the federal agency with oversight over treatment of domestic animals and investigates dog fighting allegations.
I’m not an animal activist, but dog fighting is just wrong. Please don’t hurt the puppies.
