Vivica A. Fox debuted a new look at the Men in Black 3 movie premiere in New York City. The actress who once played Will Smith’s love interest on the big screen and who now has her own wig line rocked a short ruffled pixie cut wearing all white which gave off a more youthful appearance.

Meanwhile, Jada Pinkett Smith shows off in a sexy shimmery see-through halter gown by Bill Blass. When does she ever NOT look good!

The stars hit the red carpet for yet another awards show, Billboard Music Awards. Like all awards shows there are some highlights and some low-lights. Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz hit the red carpet, dressed in black and white. That dress is working the mess out of Alicia Keys hips. I definitely saw more tweets regarding Alicia Keys’ hips than I saw tweets about Stevie Wonder’s hairline or Bobbi Kristina’s dress and wig. But I will just leave those tweets to your imagination, and focus on Alicia Keys in this dress, oh and Swizz Beatz, too.

Black and white are the colors of choice for couples on the #BBMA red carpet. Monica and husband, Shannon Brown, hit the red carpet in black and white, along with Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa, and Jason Derulo and Jordan Sparks. Speaking of Jordan Sparks…

I think she did a great job of honoring Whitney Houston by singing I Will Always Love You. Sure she is no Whitney Houston, but who is? People have undeliverable expectations when it comes to these awards show tributes, including myself. I have finally come to the realization that if the singer doesn’t fall off the stage or forget the words, then that’s the best we can hope to expect at a tribute. John Legend and Jordan Sparks didn’t fall off the stage and didn’t forget the words. So there you have it…I no longer have unrealistic expectations of these award shows tributes. Because every time I get my hopes up for an epic Whitney or Michael Jackson tribute, I am unfortunately left with, “Meh!“ and a shoulder shrug.

Brandy looks amazing in her dress. LMFAO clean up at the awards. Either you get LMFAO or you just don’t. Unfortunately I DO get them and I am a FAN. Chris Brown definitely gives us the visuals on stage shirtless with a fur coat in his mammy Tupac scarf and tail, BUT he received a lot of backlash from his peers for lip syncing. Singer Pink is his biggest critics, tweeting these words:

one day if I lipsync, I hope I do it as well as him…

Last but not least, I am touched when Bobbi Kristina accepts the Billboard Millennium Award on her mother’s behalf wearing a dress similar to one Whitney once wore, and all my other thoughts on the subject are left better yet unsaid. So I leave you with these words from Bobbi Kristina’s acceptance speech:

I just want to say thank you to everyone who’s supported us through it all. Not just from when it was good, but when it was bad, too. Just everything! Thank you so much for showing that much love, because she deserved it. She did. I’m just blessed to have been in such an incredible woman’s life. Will Smith SLAPPED a reporter!!! I must admit when I first caught wind that Will Smith slapped a reporter in Moscow during the premiere of Men In Black 3, my first thought was Will Smith who? So naturally I had to see it to believe it because Will Smith does not slap people. Sure enough the Men In Black star did in fact hit a reporter in the face, and if you ask me the reporter deserved it. Check it out for yourself:

So why would Will Smith slap a reporter? Because the man in the picture above tried to kiss Will Smith in the mouth by force. The whole exchange was caught on tape. This weekend, the Hollywood and sports world came together at the Tribeca Film Festival’s premiere and gala for the ESPN Films screening of the upcoming documentary, “Benji”.

The team-less,Lamar Odom took time to do what he loves best… walk the red carpet. He cried and complained that one of the things he would miss after being cut from the LA Lakers would be the red carpet events and movie premieres. He’d rather be out getting his picture taken instead of playing basketball for the team he was traded to, the Dallas Mavericks, so I hope he is happy now. He was Kardashian-less at the premiere-uh oh.

Anyways, the premiere and gala hosted a great mix of film industry professionals and athletes. One of the greatest actors of all-time Robert De Niro-who founded the Tribeca Film Festival to bring the film festival experience to New York after September 11th-showed his support by attending the premiere. Here he is with the documentary’s directors, Coodie and Chike.

Also in attendance was one of the fastest men in the world, two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, LaShawn Merritt of USA Track & Field who took a quick break from his Olympic training to attend Tribeca. Also, Super Bowl Champions Ahmad Bradshaw and Prince Amukamara of the New York Giants who showed support for the film.

If you are a fan of ESPN Films, you know they bring forth some of the most powerful sports stories ever. Benji goes back to 1984 when 17-year-old Ben Wilson was a symbol of everything promising about Chicago: a sweet-natured youngster from the city’s fabled South Side, and America’s top high school basketball prospect. Nicknamed “Magic Johnson with a jump shot,” Wilson’s natural talents and drive assured his best years were yet to come. Then, in November of his senior year, the career of this exceptional youngster was abruptly and tragically cut short. Ben’s grim fate sent ripples of horror through the city and the country.

Hard times, call for desperate measures! Many of you are probably wondering who is Melanie Thornton in the first place? Naturi Naughton stays working. She joins the cast of the upcoming Lifetime drama series, “The Client List” for the show’s launch party at the Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood, California.

According to Deadline.com, The Client List is based on the network’s 2010 original movie. The Sony TV-produced series stars Jennifer Love Hewitt as Riley, a Texas housewife who, after being deserted by her husband, ends up running a massage parlor, The Rub, which offers more than back rub. Naughton will play a new character, Kendra, a beautiful, hard-working masseuse at the parlor. Actress-singer Naughton, who co-starred in the 2009 feature remake of Fame, played Black bunny Brenda on NBC’s short-lived Playboy Club.

Loretta Devine also joins the cast.

I swear, Fridays bring out the crazies.  According to the Daily Mail, last night Kim Kardashian was at an event to launch her new perfume, True Reflection, when an unidentified Asian woman launched a white substance-filled bomb at Kim.

And she got a direct hit!! The woman was escorted away by the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and the fire department later determined that the substance was regular all-purpose flour. I have seen some interesting red carpet fashion choices. I have seen women push the envelope so far that they have a wardrobe malfunction on the red carpet. What we now call a nip slip. We were all laughing at Emily B when she moved into her “own” apartment, and now look,  she has her man right by side in the open for all to see at a movie about relationships. The screening was held at the Cobb Plaza Cinema Café in Orlando, of course, and Chris Bosh, LaLa Anthony, BET’s Stephen Hill, Gabrielle Union, Kevin Hart and kids, producer Will Packer, Terrence J, and Gary Owen were all in attendance.

If you missed last night’s 84th Academy Awards, more famously known as the Oscars, here’s a brief recap of the highlights. Octavia Spencer wins an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. It’s a wondrous moment, as she nearly faints when her name is called. Spencer accepts the award with humor and tears, thanking the the cute guy who escorted her onto the stage. I can’t say she’s a better actress than Viola Davis, but if you’ve seen The Help, you know that Minnie (played by Spencer) owns the movie.

Speaking of Viola Davis, she looks amazing as she walks down the red carpet. I am so proud that she walks the red carpet for the highest honor in film, as her beautiful natural self. Davis misses the Best Actress nomination to Meryl Streep. Oddly, I think it’s an honor to be in the company of Meryl Streep, who is probably the best actor of our day. When Meryl Streep’s name is announced, she kisses her dear friend Viola Davis and brushes Davis’s cheek. I think Meryl Streep wanted Viola Davis to win, the two worked together in the movie Doubt, where Viola Davis earned her first Oscar nod. It’s a bittersweet moment…I’m not mad that Meryl Streep wins the Oscar, just sad Viola Davis couldn’t win too.

For me, Esperanza Spalding’s voice is the highlight of the night. During the In Memoriam section of the Academy Awards, Esperanza Spalding sings What A Wonderful World. Not only is she beautiful and easy on the eyes, her voice is refreshing, clean, and technical. If you do not know Esperanza Spalding, then it’s time!!! Spalding is an amazing jazz musician. She not only sings, she also composes music, and plays the the bass.

The Best Film of the Year, is The Artist; a silent movie that won big last night. Maybe the Academy is trying to tell us less is more. During the age of blockbuster, big budget movies, plus computer animation and enhanced films, a silent film wins…a french silent film… O_-
