So how many of you got tickets to one of the most coveted shows of the year? This weekend marks the return of Beyoncé to the stage, after giving birth to daughter Blue Ivy.  Revel Resorts in Atlantic City, New Jersey is hosting Bey for shows on May 26th to May 28th. I happen to know of a few people who are down there preparing now.  Beyoncé has made a making of video to mark this special occassion.

The first thing I noticed off the bat was that her voice sounds a little bit deeper to me.  I experienced the same thing in the aftermath of my pregnancy as well, so I commend her for being able to hit those notes with the same vocal range and intensity as before.  This video also revels just how much she throws herself into the planning of the shows, from lighting to angles to choreography to sets.  Check out the video below:

Las Vegas judge sentenced him to 90 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a reduced battery domestic violence charge and no contest to two harassment charges. The case stemmed from a hair-pulling, punching and arm-twisting argument with his ex-girlfriend Josie Harris while two of their children watched in September 2010.

As cliché as it may sound, education is the gateway to a lifetime of opportunity.  It’s important that we keep this belief in the hearts of their children, so they may pass it on.  At least I think so.  And it seems that I’m not alone.  Oscar nominee Viola Davis addressed the senior class of her high school alma matter Central Falls High School earlier today, according to the NPR.

Central Falls, Rhode Island has been in the news these past few years after the city filed for bankruptcy and the high school’s mass firing of teachers in 2010 (they later rehired the teachers).  It’s good to see someone give back to the community that they came from, and continue to support it!  Viola shared a story to inspire the students, recalling a time when she challenged a classmate, who called her the “N-word”, to a race: 

Davis recounted a time in third grade when a classmate kept calling her “the N-word,” prompting her to try to best him in some way. He was known as the fastest boy in Central Falls, so she challenged him to a race.

She worried as recess approached — her shoes were a size and a half too small and her socks had holes — and she wondered how she’d be able to run fast.

“I did what any self-respecting girl would have done: I took my shoes off,” she said.

The race was a tie. But she said Thursday she was telling the story as a kind of lesson to students.

“You gotta be in the race, no matter what,” she said. “Win or lose.

I try to ignore the racial comments about Trayvon Martin deserving to be killed because he looked like a thug. I ignore the claims that the media has hyped this case, although it began as a grassroots movement. I ignore the New Black Panther Party who think placing a bounty on Zimmerman is worth advocating in the year 2012. I even ignore the fact that an insensitive idiot thought it was humorous to put cross hairs on a hoodie, and sell it in honor of Trayvon Martin. But this new trend called “Trayvoning” isn’t something I can just ignore. Please come get your kids!

Planking is stupid, but for the most part it’s harmless fun unless you’re planking on a balcony 50 stories in the air and you fall. Trayvoning, however, just goes to show the depth of ignorance that comes in the age of social media. A teen was killed and his mother and father are still alive– mourning and grieving. Yet, teens are posting pictures of themselves in hoodies, playing dead next to some Skittles and Arizon Tea.

I agree with Clutch Magazine, whether or not you think Zimmerman was justified in his actions, I thought we all agreed that Trayvon’s death was an unnecessary tragedy. I guess now it’s more of a joke, or another twisted way of raising awareness for a case that already has a high profile. I give up! I refuse to believe there is such a thing…

Tracy Morgan has no sense. LMAO  Last night the comedian made an appearance on Conan with Conan O’Brian to talk about the most random of subjects.  One of which was the upcoming presidential election.

When weighing the two candidates, Tracy says he may consider endorsing Republican candidate Mitt Romney because, with Romney being from Utah, he would endorse multiple wives.  Yeah, I doubt Romney‘s camp is gonna jump on that endorsement.  Then, when talking about President Obama‘s work thus far, he notes that the president is a ‘gangbanger’ because he’s assassinating people such as Osama Bin-Laden.  Get your midday laugh on in the following clip:

The 2012 BET Awards Nominees have been released. Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Beyonce have received the bulk of the nominations. Kanye West leads the field with seven nods, Beyonce receives six nominations, edging out hubby Jay-Z who has five. This year’s host will be Samuel L Jackson with performances by Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown. Frankie Beverly & Maze will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, which they so deserve. Nicki Minaj is guaranteed to win best female rapper again, maybe next year she will have more competition in her category. I can’t wait to see the old school surprise this year, it’s always my favorite part of the show. I am certain their will be a Whitney Houston tribute, can’t wait to find out who will be honoring The Voice (aka Whitney).

Every time Chris Brown does something someone has something negative to say. He did the crime and he will forever have to pay for his consequences, that’s part of life, but the cyber bullying needs to stop. I understand when Pink complains about Chris Brown lip synching because she is a fellow entertainer who dances and sings live every time. Pink gives her all, and she knows what it is to perform. But why does Victoria’s  Secret model Chrissy Teigen thinks it’s alright to take a stab at a musician singing and dancing then get upset when she receives backlash. Yes, Chris Brown has STANS, and unfortunately stans of celebrities are crazy and out of control, but why is Chrissy on twitter taking shots at Chris Brown in the first place. Doth she sings? Chris Brown is not his stans, but it’s not a good look for Chris Brown when his stans send out death threats via twitter:

Team Breezy! Lets stop sending death threats!  I know y’all bout that life but it’s the wrong message! Ur turning haters into victims! And that only furthers their pointless existence!

If Chrissy Teigen wants to take aim, why doesn’t she talk about the fact that John Legend only sings the one song with different words, sounding like one long negro spiritual in concert. Don’t get me wrong, I like John Legend, but I wish he would dance or do something creatively different when he performs. One man, one song, and one piano is not a concert you want to go to often. Seen it!!! *just kidding*

My point is when you do or say something negative deal with the consequences and own up to it.  I have been attacked by many stans, but only when I’m throwing shade. Chrissy Teigen is throwing shade, plain and simple. Chrissy Teigen is allowed to have her own opinion, but when that opinion is offensive or hurts someone else please don’t act shocked when your opinions are rejected. Chrissy is out of line for starting the twitter drama and I wish mainstream media would call her out for it, instead of acting like she’s a victim. Obviously she’s a big girl, she’s able to diss a craft she doesn’t do, so surely she can ignore mean tweets and not engage in the negativity she started. These stans on twitter need to dial down the fury a notch or two or ten because these celebrities do not care about you. Beyonce will not ask you your favorite color or how did your day go. They really only see you as dollar signs funding their career.

Lastly, celebs need to stop picking on Chris Brown. He is an easy target, I get it.  However, if you really want to stand up for violence, start by not bullying anyone on twitter, and secondly use your “modeling” skills to promote a just cause that reaches millions in a positive way. It’s becoming too easy to create publicity by attacking Chris Brown, Rihanna, or Lil Kim. If you’re going to talk about someone’s talent, just know as a model, a Victoria’s Secret model, you are going to receive some mean jokes. No offense to models, but hey.Similar Posts:

Ray J has been in a lot of drama lately, and the Ray J saga continues. During the Billboard Music Awards Ray J and Pat Houston gets into a little altercation when Ray J takes it upon himself to move out of his designated seat, to sit next to Bobbi Kristina and the Houston family, uninvited. He does this right before the Whitney Houston tribute begins. Pat Houston calls security on Ray J, Ray J refuses to move. Things are getting physical when Pat finally changes her mind to avoid a huge confrontation that would have been caught on film over shadowing the tribute. Now Ray J is wrong for what he did (publicity stunt), but this is the second time Pat has been accused of foul play behind the scenes. We all know from the Oprah Winfrey interview that Pat does NOT like Ray J and she is awfully crafty at hiding her shade in a compliment.

Anyway that’s yesterday’s news. Today Ray J has been hospitalized for “fatigue and exhaustion,” after appearing disoriented in his hotel room. Get the details when you continue…

According to TMZ:

Ray J crashed and burned the morning after the Billboard Music Awards … and landed in the hospital … TMZ has learned.

We’re told Ray J was extremely upset after his confrontation with Whitney Houston‘s family — notably Pat Houston — during the awards ceremony.  On Monday morning, someone went into Ray J’s hotel room and realized the singer was “out of it” and couldn’t get out of bed.

We’re told Ray J was extremely disoriented and was immediately taken to the hospital by ambulance.

As for what happened … it’s looking like a combo of exhaustion and stress.  Ray J had just returned from a quick, 32-hour round trip to China and when he landed he immediately drove 4 hours to Las Vegas for the awards show.

Ray J is still in the hospital.  No word on when he’ll be released.

The stars hit the red carpet for yet another awards show, Billboard Music Awards. Like all awards shows there are some highlights and some low-lights. Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz hit the red carpet, dressed in black and white. That dress is working the mess out of Alicia Keys hips. I definitely saw more tweets regarding Alicia Keys’ hips than I saw tweets about Stevie Wonder’s hairline or Bobbi Kristina’s dress and wig. But I will just leave those tweets to your imagination, and focus on Alicia Keys in this dress, oh and Swizz Beatz, too.

Black and white are the colors of choice for couples on the #BBMA red carpet. Monica and husband, Shannon Brown, hit the red carpet in black and white, along with Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa, and Jason Derulo and Jordan Sparks. Speaking of Jordan Sparks…

I think she did a great job of honoring Whitney Houston by singing I Will Always Love You. Sure she is no Whitney Houston, but who is? People have undeliverable expectations when it comes to these awards show tributes, including myself. I have finally come to the realization that if the singer doesn’t fall off the stage or forget the words, then that’s the best we can hope to expect at a tribute. John Legend and Jordan Sparks didn’t fall off the stage and didn’t forget the words. So there you have it…I no longer have unrealistic expectations of these award shows tributes. Because every time I get my hopes up for an epic Whitney or Michael Jackson tribute, I am unfortunately left with, “Meh!“ and a shoulder shrug.

Brandy looks amazing in her dress. LMFAO clean up at the awards. Either you get LMFAO or you just don’t. Unfortunately I DO get them and I am a FAN. Chris Brown definitely gives us the visuals on stage shirtless with a fur coat in his mammy Tupac scarf and tail, BUT he received a lot of backlash from his peers for lip syncing. Singer Pink is his biggest critics, tweeting these words:

one day if I lipsync, I hope I do it as well as him…

Last but not least, I am touched when Bobbi Kristina accepts the Billboard Millennium Award on her mother’s behalf wearing a dress similar to one Whitney once wore, and all my other thoughts on the subject are left better yet unsaid. So I leave you with these words from Bobbi Kristina’s acceptance speech:

Will Smith SLAPPED a reporter!!! I must admit when I first caught wind that Will Smith slapped a reporter in Moscow during the premiere of Men In Black 3, my first thought was Will Smith who? So naturally I had to see it to believe it because Will Smith does not slap people. Sure enough the Men In Black star did in fact hit a reporter in the face, and if you ask me the reporter deserved it. Check it out for yourself:

So why would Will Smith slap a reporter? Because the man in the picture above tried to kiss Will Smith in the mouth by force. The whole exchange was caught on tape. Rumors hit the internet yesterday that Pooch Hall and Tia Mowry are leaving BET’s The Game. Today we know those rumors are true. Tia Mowry confirms on twitter that she will not be returning to The Game.

Honestly this is good news for me because Derwin (pooch Hall) and Melanie (Tia Mowry) are the only reasons I watch the show, and their story line has been pretty awful.Melanie’s character can’t win for nothing and her character has become so sad to watch. Hopefully their story will end with some good luck because I am tired of the Debbie Downer plot…In the meantime Tia is promoting her new book Oh! Welpity welp welp welp.  I’ve always thought the relationship between singer Lauryn Hill and Bob Marley‘s son Rohan Marley was disfunctional.  There were whispers about Rohan still being married to his first wife at the time he and Lauryn were a couple. Lauryn had 5 kids with him and still Rohan didn’t make any moves to marry her or anything. Then Lauryn had a sixth child and Rohan denied that it was his child. MESSY!! And now look-a-here: he’s engaged to someone else.

Rohan is engaged to 28 year old model Isabeli Fontana, according to Brazilian magazine Terra.  Apparently Rohan met Isabeli in October, after denying that Lauryn‘s sixth child was his.  And I guess sparks flew.  Isabeli is a mother of two kids and this will be her third marriage. No date has been set but apparently some of the wedding plans are decided: 

“Rohan told me that we must return to their origins so that the marriage will last forever,” said the model of 28 years, rising to the altar for the third time. The model explained that they have not yet set a date for the ceremony, which could happen this year and will be reserved for friends and family.

I have been trying not to watch Basketball Wives, but after my twitter timeline lit up with comments about Tami’s behavior, I just had to have a sneak a peek. I ended up watching the whole episode like a crack-head. The show, however, didn’t feel right at all. My soul was hurting while watching Tami Roman bully Kesha over some comments Kesha made weeks ago that were not that serious and taken out of context. Last night after the show aired Tami issued a very weak public apology via twitter, claiming that she is not a bully. Perhaps, she doesn’t know what the word “bully” means:

Bully: a person who is habitually cruel or overbearing, especially to smaller or weaker people.

Bully: a blustering browbeating person; especially: one habitually cruel to others who are weaker

Bully: bullying is intentional aggressive behavior. It can take the form of physical or verbal harassment and involves an imbalance of power (someone who is physically bigger or more aggressive)

By every definition of the word, Tami is indeed a bully, and what she did to Kesha was WRONG! I felt like a bully just watching Basketball Wives because there was nothing I could do to help Kesha, who clearly wasn’t trying to fight or engage in the drama. Tami looked like a grown man trying to fight a little kid. Anyway, after the show was over, Tami issued an apology via twitter. This show was filmed weeks ago, and Tami is just now issuing a public apology for stealing Kesha’s purse and bullying her. Why now, Tami? Anyway, check out the apology when you continue…

I don’t apologize for it 2b accepted — that is ultimately the other person’s right to accept or deny it. My only responsibility is to acknowledge a mistake was made and own up to it. I apologize to my family, my REAL friends, my business colleagues, and my Project Girl ladies 4my recent behavior on BBW. I am NOT a bully as depicted on the show, but I did make poor decisions in handling my differences with my cast mate. It’s been a minute since I’ve heard anything about Michael Clarke Duncan but I guess this is how he’s been biding his time!  After giving up meat and going vegetarian, Michael is now a spokesperson for PETA.  Since going vegetarian, Michael has shed 35 pounds…and looks pretty hulkalicious!

Woo! I know his girlfriend reality star and newly annointed pastor Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth is one happy lady. Michael‘s new lifestyle consists of eating protein packed foods like vegetables, nuts and tofu instead of meat.  He looks great and it’s good to see him making a healthy change! While I generally think a lot of the PETA people go overboard, you can’t deny the value in a healthy lifestyle change.  Check out his interview, below:

It was the best s**t ever, it was some rock star s**t. This is the craziest schedule I’ve ever been on in my entire life.

One morning I woke up and started crying so hard. I finally just got to my bed from the IV [drip] and I was just like, ‘Good I can actually get to sleep tonight’, because we stayed up [all night' and I finished [the album] at 5pm the day before.

So now, I’m like, ‘One good night of rest.’ I get in bed, and it must have been two hours in before my phone started going off. Rihanna hits the red carpet at the LA premiere of Battleship in this Adam Selman’s white backless dress with thigh splits. Rumor has it that she co-designed the dress with Selman.  The dress is nice, but the singer admits to Access Hollywood that it’s not easy to wear:

Kesha is a sweet person to forgive Tami Roman and patch things up after being bullied on national TV.  Tami takes one shot of some alcohol, and before the liquor reaches Tami’s stomach,  Tami turns into the Hulk,  and tears into Kesha over some remarks that happened weeks prior to their trip to Tahiti. After Tami’s health scare, whatever drama was going on between us was out the window. “I sent her an email telling her I hoped for a speedy recovery and was praying for her, and that’s the last I heard of it.

That’s nice of Kesha to reach out to Tami, but honestly, I would feel better about the situation if Tami was the bigger person, and apologized first. Royce said it best in her blog post when she calls the Tami V Kesha drama,  “A D*mn Shame!”

Tami seemed as though she was trying to find something to get upset about and she chose a cough. From the way the girls were seated in the car, to laughing and making faces behind Kesha‘s back if you take a screen capture from that scene and mine from the van in Spain, it’s almost identical.

I’m not sure what happened to Tami, but this isn’t the woman I’ve gotten to know. To see these women gang up on someone who has done nothing to them is embarrassing. I say ganging up because NO ONE did anything to stop it. If you don’t say anything you then become part of the problem. Who cares if Kesha was scared to get in the ocean with sharks and stingrays, I don’t believe I saw any of your asses in a swimsuit jumping in the water either. How are you going to call someone else scary when at least they put on the attire instead of saying “Oh Hell NO” in confessionals?????  {Read the rest}

These subliminal tweets and lyrics, they just don’t stop. I don’t know how many times I need to say this, but unless someone “@s” you or calls out your name, please don’t assume the song is about you. Rihanna unfollows Chris Brown after learning about some new lyrics written by Breezy on a freestyle to Kanye West’s Way Too Cold (Formely Thera-Flu):

Don’t eff with my old bishes like a bad fur/Every industry ninjas done had her/Trick or treat like a pumpkin just to smash her/Bishes breaking codes, but I’m the password.

Rihanna is the first person to come to everyone’s mind, but honestly Draya Michelle was the first to come to my mind #NOSHADE. Notice in the lyrics Breezy says “bishes” (plural) meaning more than one, so this song isn’t about Rihanna, or should I say JUST Rihanna, it’s about ALL the women that didn’t matter. Well Rihanna reacts to the song by unfollowing Chris Brown on twitter, and Chris Brown responds with this tweet.

Well if the lyrics weren’t about Rihanna then, they probably are now. After all that has happened, these two still have trouble communicating, even in subliminal tweets. Poor Chris Brown, he can’t WIN for nothing…

As we predicted, Jermaine Paul wins NBC’s The Voice last night. The former Alicia Keys background singer, proved that he deserves to be in the spotlight and America agreed. He was our favorite from day one!

It’s also amazing how Blake Shelton, one of country music’s biggest stars and who isn’t usually up for much of the strong R&B talent, was able to mentor and coach, Jermaine Paul to the top, but he did an amazing job throughout the entire competition.

The two-night season finale was packed with the most powerful, soulful and heavy-hitting performances that I’ve seen from a reality TV show competition in recent memory. I’m looking forward to hearing more from Jermaine Paul. Not only does he have a voice that R&B needs today, but he is already developed and experienced from touring with Alicia Keys and now doing live TV. He’s got a great look and can probably experiment with acting and modeling, but for now I am sure he is ready to hit the studio and work on an album through the recording contract he has won through the show.
