Man, Hip Hop fans are feeling like it’s Christmas right now!! During an interview with Rolling Stone, legendary Hip Hop group De La Soul announced that they will be giving away their entire catalog for FREE in celebration of the 25th anniversary of their debut album 3Ft High And Rising.
“It’s about allowing our fans who have been looking and trying to get a hold of our music to have access to it,” De La Soul member Posdnuos tells Rolling Stone. “It’s been too long where our fans haven’t had access to everything. This is our way of showing them how much we love them.”
It’s about that time where the latest American Idol winner releases their debut album and with the 13th season currently in full effect, last years winner Candice Glover is gearing up to release her first album Music Speaks, which releases on February 18th. The album includes contributions from producers and songwriters such as Rodney Jerkins, Ester Dean, Jazmine Sullivan, Apex and others. With this album Candice definitely stays true to what made her an American Idol winner and that is her strong vocal ability. The album opens up with her debut single “Cried”, which is currently number 23 on the US Adult R&B Chart and that song definitely shows Candice’s strong vocal ability. The album includes other ballads, but also more uptempo songs such as “Die Without You” and “Same Kinda Man” and the album ends with her uplifting song “I Am Beautiful”.

So yesterday Nicki Minaj released the video for her single Lookin Ass N*gga. And on the cover of the single, was an iconic picture of Malcolm X, holding a rifle and peering out into the street from behind closed curtains. Soon as the internet got a hold of that, there was a whirlwind of backlash and slander. I even saw a petitioned made to have Nicki remove the image of Malcolm X, claiming that using the picture dishonors the legacy of one of the greatest Civil Rights leaders. Well, it seems that Nicki had a change of heart–she notified everyone via Instagram that she decided to remove the picture. But basically, not because of y’all. So she pretty much is saying “Y’ALL LATE.”
What seems to be the issue now? Do you have a problem with me referring to the people Malcolm X was ready to pull his gun out on as Lookin Ass Niggaz? Well, I apologize. That was never the official artwork nor is this an official single. This is a conversation. Not a single. I am in the video shooting at Lookin Ass Niggaz and there happened to be an iconic photo of Malcolm X ready to do the same thing for what he believed in!!!! It is in no way to undermine his efforts and legacy. I apologize to the Malcolm X estate if the meaning of the photo was misconstrued. The word “nigga” causes so much debate in our community while the “nigga” behavior gets praised and worship. Let’s not. Apologies again to his family. I have nothing but respect an adoration for u. The photo was removed hours ago. Thank you
It was just a few days ago when Nicki Minaj posted photos of her natural hair and a more toned down face when it came to her makeup. No one knew exactly what shoot she was preparing for until now. Her new song “Looking A** N*ggas” is expected to appear on Young Money’s album Rise of An Empire, due for March 11th. Nicki definitely puts a few dudes on blast and looks great while doing so.

This sounds like the Nicki Minaj from her mixtape days.
If your a regular viewer of Single Ladies on VH1, then I’m pretty sure you have seen the big impact LeToya Luckett’s character Felicia Price has had on the show. During last night’s episode her new single “Don’t Make Me Wait” premiered. Her last album Lady Love was released back in 2009 and since then she has been working on her new album and working on her acting career. Finally Ms. Luckett has decided to stop making her fans wait by giving them a taste of what to expect from her new album.
This is what Letoya had to say about the singles release:
Don’t Make Me Wait’ is a song that I did with “Single Ladies” in mind. It’s all about the chase! I’m excited to release my first single from my forthcoming album in a little bit, and until then, I wanted to give fans a taste of what I’ve been working on. I didn’t want to make the fans wait!

After what seems to be quite some time Ashanti seems to have an official single and the official visual to match for her upcoming studio album Braveheart. She stopped by 106 & Park yesterday to premiere the video for hosts Bow Wow and Keisha Chante and the audience members. There were many setbacks and a few singles released here and there, but Ashanti definitely has a banger on her hands. The music video features the head honcho of MMG Rick Ross, along with vocals from Atlanta’s very own Future. The sexy video was shot in Miami with a club scenery, which allowed Ashanti show off her dancing skills.
