Former Fugees member, Lauryn Hill, has had some major obstacles throughout her career. This 8 time Grammy winner has had to deal with being evicted from her home, and serving a 3 month prison sentence for tax evasion. Since being released from prison, Lauryn has been performing around the country. Unfortunately, she has also developed a bad reputation by showing up late to performances and not giving a stellar performance.
Recently, Ms. Hill was set to perform at the House of Blues in Chicago where she graced the stage 50 minutes after she was scheduled to perform. It was reported that Lauryn’s opening song was not very good which promoted a man in the audience to express his disgust. According to Essence, the fan called out Ms. Hill’s name and proceeded to make an obscene gesture. This caused L Boogie to scold the heckling fan publicly by saying,
“When I get up on this stage, don’t be disrespectful. You could go…if a little patience is too much. It’s alright…you could go. I would prefer that. You not ‘gon mess up my vibe for the rest of these people. You not ‘gon do that.”
After humiliating the fan, Lauryn decided that wasn’t enough and taught the rude fan a lesson by prompting security to escort him out of the venue.
“Excuse me, there’s a gentleman over there who just did something I don’t like. Can you please escort him out and refund his money…I don’t play that. ..I don’t need to win you over, but you don’t need to win me over. You can go, and you can take all your money right back.”
Just when the remaining fans thought it was safe to get back to the show, Lauryn went on to say,
“You can get on your blogs and you can tweet and say whatever you want to…I do this because I love it.”
Unfortunately, the fans did not feel her passion for her craft that night. Many fans were seen at the ticket booth complaining about Ms. Hill’s performance and asking for a refund. Hopefully, Lauryn’s next performances will go smoothly considering fans now know not to cross her.
ET recently had the opportunity to visit the set of the Whitney Houston biopic, which is expected to premier on Lifetime sometime next year. They spoke with Angela Bassett and she responded to the reaction of fans and also the family of Whitney. ET also had the pleasure of speaking with Yaya DaCosta and Deborah Cox and also received their reactions. The camera was able to catch a glimpse of Yaya in action as she is set to portray Whitney on film. Cissy Houston spoke out for the first time and shared her thoughts on the upcoming film, she said:
“Lifetime has chosen to go ahead with the movie about Whitney in spite of my family’s objections. No one connected with this movie knew Whitney or anything about her relationship with Bobby,” she said in a statement to ET. “In the two years since Whitney’s death, many people have stepped forward to speak about their close relationship with her. I find it difficult to believe people who knew and supposedly loved her would participate in a movie about her done by folks who didn’t know her. We are exhausted by the continuing misinformation and comments offered by people who did not know her. Please please let her rest.”

It seems like everyone has been busy in the Harris household as both T.I. and Tiny released new music this week. First up Tiny released her new single “What the F*ck You Gon Do”, and she made sure to treat her fans with the official music video when introducing the track. It’s been some time since we’ve heard some new music from Tiny, but I guess telling her husband to get his stuff together before she walks out is best expressed through song. T.I. then followed when he released his new single “Stay” featuring Victoria Monet, and of course his song is about working things out and staying together. Whatever is going on in their marriage I am sure they will be fine and not divorcing like many speculate them to.
Check out both tracks when you continue. . .
