On May 13th, Mother’s Day, Jada Pinkett-Smith will release Red Table Talks. Red Table Talks is an intimate look at family, love, and relationships. In this first installment of this series, Jada Pinkett- Smith, daughter Willow Smith, and Jada’s mother, Andrienne Banefield Jones, sit down for an intimate conversation about their relationships. Three generation openly talk about hurt and pain as well as healing and love. In the trailer for the short film, Adrienne Banefield-Jones, admits to Willow that she was not a good mother to Jada.

I had mommy [Jada] when I was very young. And then, I got addicted to drugs after mommy was born. And so it was a very difficult time for us growing up with her. You know Jada did not have the kind of life that you have now. I was not a good mother…in my eyes…But I just feel like during those time, the bad times out-weighed the good. And that’s how I see it in my mind, because I was on drugs until your mom was like 17 or 18 years old. That’s a long time…

Oh this just got more serious! The reason why Prosper, TX cops were so quick to arrest Pilar Sanders after the domestic abuse dispute at the Sanders’ home two weeks ago, is because three days prior Pilar locked her youngest son in the room with her and refused to let him out…even after cops arrived. When cops arrived she began screaming and yelling. They could hear the youngest child crying out for help before letting out a loud scream and being released:

He described an incident at the couple’s home on April 20. He said he and the boys had come back from Oklahoma and were picking up some clothes before heading back. He said Pilar wanted to see the couple’s younger son, so the boy went to her room. He testified that Pilar locked the boy in her room and wouldn’t let him out. Sanders said the boy was yelling, “Daddy, get me. Let me out of here.”

Deion said he called Prosper police. When officers arrived, they asked Pilar to open the door. She yelled at them and refused to open the door. Deion said that after 15 minutes, she cracked the door and his son could be seen wrestling to get out. She shut the door again. Deion said that after another 30 minutes, they heard his son let out a cry, and police demanded that she open the door.

The boy came out “holding his shoulder. He was hit again,” Deion testified. “I grabbed my son, we got in the car and left.” He said he couldn’t see what occurred in the room between his wife and his son. “I can only assume what happened.” {Source}

 

That’s not all, Pilar was also arrested for pulling two knives out, YES KNIVES, on Deion Sanders’ Aunt, Laura Jones:

Deion Sanders also testified about a confrontation in January when police were called after a fight between his aunt, Laura Jones, and Pilar. He said his wife ran out of the house with two knives in her hands and Jones’ dress, which she’d ripped off. After she dropped the knives, police handcuffed her and placed her in a squad car. Deion Sanders testified that he went to the car to see if she needed anything.

“She said, ‘Can you get me my shoes and some lip gloss?’ I said, ‘At a time like this you’re worried about your Ugg boots and lip gloss? This is pathetic,’ ” he testified.

He said he got her the boots but not the lip gloss. She was later released.

He briefly described an incident in early April when Pilar tried to snatch the couple’s son out of his room and he called police. Deion Sanders said his estranged wife also insulted his 18-year-old son late last year when he was visiting the couple’s home.

Last night the NY Knicks won their first post season game against Miami Heat in this series, and they have the Keys-Beatz family to thanks. According to Swizz Beatz, every Knicks game he attends, the Knicks win. It’s true of last night, but if that’s really the case Swizz probably should attend every game here on out because Miami is leading the New York 3-to-1. La’Princia: “I honestly feel like my dad’s a great person. He’s been my best friend, like, my whole life. If I ever have a problem with anything, I know I can always go to him. Likewise, if he ever needs to talk to somebody, he knows he can always call me and I’ll be there for him.”

Matt: “Yeah? The rest of you? Is that the reason you’re here?”

Bobby Jr.: “Yes. Definitely.”

Matt: “Because you don’t feel that the public has–”

La’Princia: “Oh, they definitely do not have the right perception on him.”

Matt: “What do you think the public perception of this man on the end is, Bobby?”

Bobby Jr. “No matter what he does, they just view him that way. They don’t– like, never really give him a chance.”

Landon: “I feel like my father’s always had the bad boy image. So, you know, they just keep followin’ that, you know? Anything that they can take a negative from the situation, they blow it out of proportion and blame him.”

La’Princia: “They don’t see the good part of him that we see every single day…. Everyone makes mistakes in life. Everyone goes through their ups and downs. You can’t be judged forever about one event in your life or– just the bad decisions you’ve made, you can’t always be judged just by that.” {Source}

The other half of our favorite celebrity twins is pregnant. Tamera Mowry-Housley is pregnant with her first child and she confirms the new with People Magazine. Also, Tia & Tamera has been picked up for a second season, so we will see some of this unfold this summer when the show returns. Congrats! I can’t wait to see this bundle of joy. Perhaps next time the sisters will time their pregnancies just right, and give birth to twin cousins.

Adam and I are excited about having a baby and the blessing that he or she will bring to our lives and to our family and friends. We can’t wait to meet this little miracle!

But the couple’s stance on the subject shifted after an “amazing” trip to South Africa — and, subsequently, a huge change of heart.

It’s hard to type this because I am just grateful someone finally made a decision, and while waiting on that decision, I have seen the WORST in humans BUT thank God, I have seen the BEST, too. George Zimmerman killed Trayvon Martin back in February, by his own omission. Instead of investigating the death of the 17 year-old unarmed teen who was killed just yards away from his second home, the local detectives and prosecutors decided to not press charges based solely on George Zimmerman’s claims of self defense.  Since then the case has garnered national attention, along with media hungry opportunist not worth mentioning, but the many people who truly believed in justice for Trayvon remained steadfast in their protest and ignored the blatant attempts to paint Trayvon Martin as black gansta-thug.

Today there is good news. Conservative Prosecutor Angela Corey, just announced that Zimmerman will be charged with second degree murder. Honestly, I think it’s high burden to meet from what has been leaked, but there must be something in the evidence that suggests this crime is more than just self-defense or manslaughter. Secondly, Zimmerman turned himself in and at this moment no bond has been set.

Erykah Badu has three children, a son Seven who is now 14, and two daughters Puma (7) and Mars (2). I remember the video for Other Side of The Game, when Erykah Badu and Andree 3000 announced that Erykah was pregnant. I can’t believe that was 14 years ago! During a recent interview with BET, Erykah Badu reveals her passion in life.

Next to her children and her music, What does Erykah Badu love most in life? …More children.

Outside of music, Badu’s major passion is children—she has three of her own, ages 14, seven and two, and as a midwife in training, has helped deliver eight babies since 2001.  “It’s my pleasure to be the welcoming committee,” she says, noting that she had natural births with her own kids.

Erykah Badu also talks about the importance of teaching her kids African-American history, and that the best lesson she can teach them is to follow their dreams and stay true to their identity:

To honor Black History Month, she teaches them “very early on who they are, what their culture is about, and how we got to where we are right now as a race of people.”

 All three are interested in music and the arts, she says, especially her seven-year-old daughter, Puma. “She’s always singing and wants to act and model.”  Badu says she’ll be supportive if any of her offspring choose showbiz, “but it has to be something you want to do. It’s a lot of commitment,” she’ll tell them. “Follow your heart. Don’t let anybody infiltrate your dream, especially you. And be fearless. Give your all every time and feel the success in that.”

So Kim Kardashian and her mother reportedly went on a vacation in Dubai back in October before Kim’s divorce. During the Dubai vacation, Kim revealed to her mother, Kris Jenner, that she and Kris Humphries were having marital problems. Sounds harmless, right? The only problem is that none of it actually happened in real life, but in a movie studio, not in Dubai but LA, and not in October before the divorce, but in December months after the divorce. Now we know why Kris Humphries wants the marriage annulled, and why he sent the tweet with hashtag #FCC. The FCC is in charge of regulating Cable and TV, and Kris Humphries knew something wasn’t right on Kim’s “reality” show.  Kim Kardashian and her mom, Kris, went through all of this just to make Kim Kardashian look good. While a lot of people are genuinely happy for Jay-Z and Beyonce (ESPECIALLY after hearing this beautiful song Jay-Z released for his daughter), a lot of tweeters have used this as a platform to show how much they dislike Beyonce.  Now I’m no Beyonce stan, but folks are out of line, calling a newborn child a “bi*ch” and trying to tie her name into the Illuminati. I mean, really folks?  There’s a difference between not liking someone and just being evil for no good reason, to the point where therapy should be your next destination. Proud auntie Solange Knowles has kept pretty silent but took to Twitter to say just a few works about this.

Eric Benet tweets a picture of his baby girl, Lucia Benet, breast-feeding with mama, Manuela Testolini. I don’t know what to think, honestly I am torn. Is this a private picture that reflects an intimate moment that should stay private??? – OR – Is this a public picture that promotes healthy breast-feeding in a very natural moment???

I really don’t know what I think because the picture above is really beautiful!!! I believe in breast feeding, after all I have two sons. BUT, I don’t know if I want to see other women on the subway, in Target, or at church breast out, even if it’s natural. It’s more like, I don’t want my sons to see women in public breast out, even if it’s natural. Too many questions I have to answer that I am not ready to answer just yet, about babies and the female anatomy. Isn’t that what shields are for?

According to statistics, less than 40% of infants under six months of age are breastfed. This is low considering that breastfeeding is one of the most effective ways to ensure child health and survival.Over one million infants die prematurely every year due to lack of nutrients that can be found in breast milk. Children who are breastfed at 3 months are more healthy than those who are given formula at that age. Breastfeeding also establishes a bond between mother and child that is not feasible with bottle feeding.

Kudos to the Benet family for promoting breastfeeding!

Disclaimer: Obviously I am for breast feeding and I think this picture is beautiful. I am however trying to spark conversation on the topic and make it as balance as possible. With so many women defending breast-feeding as natural, why do only 40% of women choose to breast-feed??? Are only women who breast feed responding to the discussion? I would like to know why do so many women choose not to breast-feed…
