Clive Davis hosted the star studded event, The Annual Pre-Grammy Gala in Beverly Hills Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA. Rihanna and Ciara went for the puffy edge, and actually pulled it off looking nothing shy of amazing. Actually, Ciara reminded me of Lil Bo Peep, but in a fashion forward couture kind of a way.
Some blast from the past hit up the event including, Toni Braxton, Mya, and India.Arie. Mary J Blige and Kendu Isaacs were kissing on the red carpet, I guess to show the world they’re not fighting anymore at events. Jennifer Hudson, Keri Hilson, and Usher worked the red carpet, as well. Jennifer Hudson is trying to get slim on is.
There have been rumors circulating about Beyonce and Kelly Rowland’sestranged relationship. With Kelly spending a lot of her time in Europe and Beyonce newly married, the two women haven’t been seen together in quite some time. Although both women attended the NRJ Music Awards, they didn’t seem to cross paths. Beyonce decided not to walk the red carpet, therefore providing no photo-op of the two ladies to dispel rumors.
To make matters worst, in the video below, Beyonce wins Greatest Artist of the Decade, and did not thank Kelly Rowland or Destiny’s Child. Perhaps by accident, perhaps not! After all she didn’t mention any family members by name.
If you ask me, that was a great PR move, now if anybody asks why didn’t Beyonce mention Kelly who was also at the event, she can simply say I didn’t mention anyone. I don’t know, but come Monday if a pciture doesn’t surface of the two of them together, the you know what is going to hit the fan.
What do you think, are Kelly and Beyonce still BFFs???
Last night the Help for Haiti Telethon aired on multiple networks. The program was a soulful spiritual night of sorrow and mourning, ending with Wyclef Jean and his uplifting message of hope for a new Haiti. The thing I was most proud of, is that musicians weren’t afraid to put their faith on their sleeves, and let the world know that they believe in a higher power that can save and heal the dispossessed. So often the Hollywood is painted as God-less liberals, but last night you can see that liberals do believe, and God was sending a message to us through their voices. So here are the songs that touched me the most, and that opened my highs to the generosity of human spirit:
[Jennifer Hudson performs Let It Be by the Beattles]
[Justin Timberlake & Matt Morris performs Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen]
[Madonna performs Just Like A Prayer]
The next two videos I liked the most, because they were uplifting, and offered some semse of hope. I’m glad the everyone performed, but for the most part there was a strong persistent sadness. So when Jay-Z and Wyclef offered a new message of happiness and redemption from the earthquake, it really moved me. Yes, Jay-Z showed his faith in the words of this song, and it had nothing to do with the New World Order. Lastly, Rihanna did a great job, and I was proud of her– something I haven’t sad lately:
This Canadian beauty by way of Morocco is Askmen.com’s Most Desirable Woman. Emmanuelle Chriqui, best known for role on Entourage as Sloan McQuewick, beat out many women including Beyonce who landed at the #6 spot. Emmanuelle Chriqui is the daughter of Moroccan Jewish immigrants. Her mother is from Casa Blanca, Morocco in North Africa, and her dad is from the capital city of Rabat.
Although there were no dark skin women on the list, women of color represented seven out of the top ten spots. Jessica Alba (5), Penelope Cruz (7), Eva Mendez (9), Zoe Saldana (33), Riahnna (39), and Halle Berry who usually dominate these charts came in at the #66 spot. I guess dark skin women have a long way to go, considering not one made the list.
No Gabrielle Union, no Nia Long, no Jessica White who is a super model, no Kelly Rowland, no Meagan Good, and no Kerry Washington.
If you want to know how she landed the #1 spot, Askmen.com explains:
Emmanuelle Chriqui is the No. 1 Most Desirable Woman of 2010 precisely because we don’t know her, which is a rarity in the paparazzi-infested 21st century. Chriqui is reminiscent of Old Hollywood glamour in the sense that the only glimpses we see of her personal life exist on red carpets. Her work on Entourage allows us to believe that there are many Sloans out there in our regular-people world, and that we are all just as deserving as Eric of a beautiful, funny and easygoing woman on our arm. And while Sloan might be attainable to the Everyman, Emmanuelle is not. For the sake of Old Hollywood’s otherworldliness and the dreams it used to inspire, that’s a price we’re willing to pay.
I know this is old, but during Mo’Nique’s acceptance speech at the Golden Globes, she said, “I celebrate this award with every person that’s ever been touched. It’s now time to tell.” For some reason people were confused by what she meant by that statement. She was not saying anyone who was “touched by the film”, she was saying anyone who has been molested.
So here is an interview from a 2008 interview, where Mo’Nique talks about her older brother started molesting her at a young age of seven, and how her parents refused to believe it. I know it’s hard for people to talk about such issues, but talking is the only way to stop it.
“I was molested by my older brother. And even when I confronted him and told my parents, he said I was lying, and nothing was really done.”
Mo’Nique added that her brother molested her four times over the course of four years. He often used candy to lure her into the bathroom, where much of the abuse took place, beginning when Mo’Nique was just seven. Her parents, never believed her. She explained:
“because me and my brother were both their children, and I just don’t know the kind of position they felt they were in. My father was very upset, but it never got mentioned again. I’ll never forget my mother saying, ‘If it’s true, it will surface again,’ and I remember thinking, ‘Why would I lie? Why is there even an if in this?’ I was angry with them for so long, because I felt as if they should have seen what was happening. My brother was a monster to me.”
Her brother went on to serve 15 years in prison for sexually abusing another girl and has never apologized for Mo’Nique’s sexual abuse.
“He still acts like he doesn’t know what I’m talking about. So screw hurting your feelings. You need to get your feelings hurt, and you need to get some help. {Source}
