I literally have no words right now.  Two legendary performers have died within 24 hours of each other.  Yesterday, “Godfather of Go Go” Chuck Brown passed away, after being hospitalized for pneumonia.  He was 75 years old.  Then, moments ago, TMZ informed the masses that Disco queen Donna Summer passed away last night, after a battle with cancer. She was only 63 years old.

We’ve lost some legendary people in 2012 alone.  At the sake of revealing my age, it feels like little bits of my childhood are making their way up to heaven, and it’s sad.  These are artists that you may not know by name, but you know their music.  That’s the stuff legends are made of.  Rest in peace and prayers go out to their families during this difficult time.  Check out a couple of clips of their biggest songs below:

As a self professed super fan of Michael Jackson, I admit to having moments when I just instantly miss him and even tear up. Yup.  But I really can not imagine what his mother Katherine Jackson goes through everyday.  Especially as the guardian of his children, Paris, Prince Michael and ‘Blanket‘.  But tonight, Katherine will sit down with CNN’s Piers Morgan to discuss Michael and her life without him, including her feelings on Dr Conrad Murray.

Katherine has said that she’s never met Dr Murray nor, to her knowledge, has he ever reached out to meet her.  And she’s also expressed her feelings on his sentence, noting that she doesn’t think four years is long enough.  You can tell this will be a really emotional interview; she appears sad and teary eyed throughout the entire clip.  I don’t even know if I’ll be able to watch without shedding a tear or two. Eff cancer! I would like to end the post there, but I can’t. Adam Yauch aka MCA was founder of the best alternative rap group EVER!!!… is dead. Remaining members of the Beastie Boys confirm the news via their website:

It is with great sadness that we confirm that musician, rapper, activist and director Adam “MCA” Yauch, founding member of Beastie Boys and also of the Milarepa Foundation that produced the Tibetan Freedom Concert benefits, and film production and distribution company Oscilloscope Laboratories, passed away in his native New York City this morning after a near-three-year battle with cancer. He was 47 years old.

Yauch’s mother Frances told the New York Times that her son died at 9 a.m. Friday, surrounded by family, at Manhattan’s New York-Presbyterian Hospital, to which he had been admitted on April 14. {via Huff Post}

It’s hurts! It just feels like all of the greats of our time is just passing away. I have been traveling down memory lane a lot due to celebrity deaths. I remember going to sock hops and doing the Peter Piper and the Quake to Beastie Boys’ Brass Monkey and Paul Revere *in my rolled up jeans with three different pair of colored socks*.  Yes, I realized I just told my age because most of you don’t know what a sock-hop is let along the Peter Piper or the Quake, or how to properly roll jeans. From Paul Revere (1986) to Sabotage and Get It Together with Q-Tip (1998), I loved me some Beastie Boys. So What’cha What’cha Want…There is some good news, too. Adam Yauch (MCA) and the Beastie Boys were inducted into the Rock-&-Roll Hall of Fame, before his untimely death. The induction will air this Saturday (tomorrow May 5th) on HBO. Rappers Chuck D and LL Cool J introduced the Beastie Boys…His fellow Beasties, Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz and Michael “Mike D” Diamond, collected their trophy in person but declined to perform without their comrade. Matt: “It’s my understanding you all really wanted to be here today and talk about your dad and some of the things that have gone on. Why is it so important?”

La’Princia: “I honestly feel like my dad’s a great person. He’s been my best friend, like, my whole life. If I ever have a problem with anything, I know I can always go to him. Likewise, if he ever needs to talk to somebody, he knows he can always call me and I’ll be there for him.”

Matt: “Yeah? The rest of you? Is that the reason you’re here?”

Bobby Jr.: “Yes. Definitely.”

Matt: “Because you don’t feel that the public has–”

La’Princia: “Oh, they definitely do not have the right perception on him.”

Matt: “What do you think the public perception of this man on the end is, Bobby?”

Bobby Jr. “No matter what he does, they just view him that way. They don’t– like, never really give him a chance.”

Landon: “I feel like my father’s always had the bad boy image. So, you know, they just keep followin’ that, you know? Anything that they can take a negative from the situation, they blow it out of proportion and blame him.”

La’Princia: “They don’t see the good part of him that we see every single day…. Everyone makes mistakes in life. Everyone goes through their ups and downs. You can’t be judged forever about one event in your life or– just the bad decisions you’ve made, you can’t always be judged just by that.” {Source}

We’ve heard Pat Hosuton say that Bobby Brown didn’t introduce Whitney Houston to drugs, we’ve heard Whitney Houston imply it, and now Bobby Brown himself is speaking out against the allegations that he’s responsible for Whitney’s drug use and ultimately her death. I don’t know how many times he has to say it or it has to be said, you cannot keep blaming this man for Whitney’s actions. Just because the media portrays them as good vs bad that does not mean that’s how either one of them lived privately. Whitney Houston’s brothers also dealt with addiction to hard drugs, and during the 80′s it sounds like it was just raining drugs. I’ll be glad when we can get past the point of reducing both of these stars, Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston, as people just battling addiction. They were so much more and accomplished more than the average star.

I didn’t get high before I met Whitney … I smoked weed, I drank the beer, but no, I wasn’t the one that got Whitney on drugs at all …it’s just unexplainable I’m not the reason she’s gone.

Bobby Brown will speak out in his first interview since the death of Whitney Houston with Matt Lauer on the Today Show. Here are few excerpts from that interview via Necole Bitchie…

On Accusations That He’s Responsible For Her Drug Use

[They] make me feel terrible. But you know, I know differently. I think if anyone ever knew us, if anybody ever spent time around us . . . they would know how we felt about each other. They would know how happy we were together.

The reality show gave us a wake-up. We [were] able to see that our drug use had affected our relationship, had affected the love that we felt for each other.

On Seeing Whitney a Week Before She Died

She had this glow about her that was just, you know, incredible. She looked really well. She just looked like she was in a good place.

On Whitney’s Drug Use & Not Knowing She Was Still Using

I was hurt. I was hurt … Because, you know, me being off of narcotics for the last seven years — I felt that she was, you know, I didn’t know she was struggling with it still. But at the same time, you know– listen, it’s a hard fight. It’s a hard fight to, you know, maintain sobriety that way.

From what I feel and you know, how I saw her, the last time I saw her, it had to be that particular day. You know, it had to be that one, because that’s all it takes … One hit, you know, and you know, it could definitely take your life away from you. And, unfortunately, that was it.

William Balfour, the ex-boyfriend of Jennifer Hudson’s sister,  is on trial today for the murder of Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother, and nephew. The singer has suffered a great loss, but she took the stand today to fight for justice for her family. While on the stand Hudson became emotional when talking about the last time she saw her family. Jennifer Hudson definitely needs words of encouragement and lots prayer as she faces the man accused of murdering three of her family members in court.

Here are the details from inside the courtroom today according to TMZ:

Jennifer Hudson dissolved into tears as she testified at the trial of the man accused of murdering her mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew.

Hudson broke down when the prosecutor asked her about the last time she saw her family.  She said her last visit was just days before the slaughter.

Hudson broke down again when the prosecutor handed her a photo of her mom.

Most relevant to the case … Hudson told jurors no one in her family wanted her sister to date William Balfour, the man accused of the triple murder.  She said she always tried to keep her distance from Balfour.

George Zimmerman’s team has released the bloody pics of his head that backs up Zimmerman’s claim that he was assaulted by Trayvon Martin, thus the reason he confronted, shot, and killed the teen walking home from 7-11 in the early evening not committing a crime.  It’s hard for me to not be biased in this case because I can’t understand how a teen walking home from 7-11, shortly after sunset, looks suspicious enough to kill. How suspicious can you look at 6:59 PM on a Sunday when everyone is home preparing for work and school? I would understand the “suspicion” more if the incident took place at 2 AM, but at 7 PM, that’s what teens do, walk to 7-11 to get some effin’ Skittles and tea.

Anyway, whatever happens after George Zimmerman exits his vehicle, leads to a fight or a “struggle”. Sounds like Zimmerman is losing from his testimony and feels he has to shoot Trayvon Martin to save his life, the life Zimmerman puts in danger by ignoring the dispatcher and exiting his vehicle to follow an unknown “man”. During the fight, Zimmerman says Trayvon Martin hit his head against the concrete. Here is the photo that proves Zimmerman’s head was indeed bloodied:

Another surprising factor is that Zimmerman is granted a $150,000 bond today, despite the nature of the crime and past violent cases, including assaulting cops. I don’t know how I feel about it. The bond should at least been set higher, but it is what it is. This is the same state that couldn’t convict Casey Anthony, so I don’t know how much faith I have in the prosecution of the Trayvon Martin case. But at least the case is no longer behind closed doors…

Tupac Shakur performed this past weekend at the Coachella Music Festival on stage with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. He performed Hail Mary as his first song, and that did it for me! The hologram was close enough to the real thing that the audience at Coachella went crazy with screams when the 3D hologram of Tupac appeared on stage. It’s about time they put this technology to good use. I have to give props to Dr. Dre for that one. He just gave a Tupac stan LIFE!

Whitney Houston will obviously be the star of this version of Sparkle, unlike the original where the focus was on Sparkle played by Irene Cara, and of course Sister played by the beautiful Lonette McKee. I promised myself that I was going to judge this movie with an open-mind because I am a die-hard fan of the original movie. Judging by the trailer, there are a lot of changes that’s going to be hard for a Sparkle fan like myself to swallow, but at the same time the there are some differences worth embracing, like LIGHT. We all know the original could use a candle or two in the background. And, like hearing Mama Effie, played by Whitney Houston, singing Precious Lord instead of Sparkle. Whitney Houston’s untimely passing, will give this movie a broader spotlight, and I hope it doesn’t disappoint.

The film is not scheduled to hit theaters until August 17th, but in the mean time we have this trailer to watch.

Yesterday marked the 17 year anniversary of Hip Hop legend Eazy-E‘s death. And in a touching tribute, his daughter, 20 year old Erin Bria Wright, recreated album covers from Eazy-E‘s solo career to pay tribute to her late father, according to Billboard.

“It’s been 17 long years since my father passed away and I miss him dearly,” she said in a statement. “This year I decided to pay homage to him by recreating two of his most famous album covers, I feel so proud to be apart of his history. Hopefully one day he will finally get the recognition he truly deserves for his impact and accomplishments that paved the way for so many artists and urban music moguls of today. I love you Dad, R.I.P.”

Obviously, this is a tragedy. I can only imagine what these parents are going through, and when I think about this boy, I think about my own kids, and I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this, and that everybody pulls together — federal, state and local — to figure out exactly how this tragedy happened.

THE PRESIDENT: Well, I’m the head of the executive branch, and the Attorney General reports to me so I’ve got to be careful about my statements to make sure that we’re not impairing any investigation that’s taking place right now.

But obviously, this is a tragedy.  I can only imagine what these parents are going through.  And when I think about this boy, I think about my own kids.  And I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this, and that everybody pulls together — federal, state and local — to figure out exactly how this tragedy happened.

So I’m glad that not only is the Justice Department looking into it, I understand now that the governor of the state of Florida has formed a task force to investigate what’s taking place.  I think all of us have to do some soul searching to figure out how does something like this happen.  And that means that examine the laws and the context for what happened, as well as the specifics of the incident.

But my main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin.  If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.  And I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves, and that we’re going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened.

Ray J wants you to know he was in NO way involved in the death of Whitney Houston. Bobby Brown’s sister, Leolah Brown , names Ray J as Whitney’s connection to drugs during an interview with Dr. Drew. She basically accuses Ray J of killing Whitney Houston.  Leolah Brown also claims Ray J was at the hotel that morning, although his team says he was in San Diego and no where near the hotel room in Los Angeles on that fatal day. This is the second person from Whitney’s camp that believes Ray J was a bad influence on the singer. Whitney’s best friend and sister-in-law, Pat Houston, suggested something similar during an interview with Oprah. However, Leolah Brown and the Brown family do not have the best reputation when it comes to facts about Whitney or having Whitney’s best interest. After all, they did sell those infamous bathroom pics to the National Enquirer. So anything they say about Whitney should be taken with a grain of salt. Bottom Feeders!

In order to clear his name, Ray J’s publicist wants you to know the accusations are false. Here is the statement sent to us with a message that reads “VERY URGENT”:

To media outlets contemplating republishing a malicious and false story regarding Whitney Houston’s death:

CNN Headline News broadcast an interview with Leolah Brown last night  that was rife with false statements about our client,  Willie  Ray Norwood, Jr., professionally known as Ray J. Even though Leolah Brown was nowhere near the Beverly Hilton Hotel on the day Whitney Houston died, CNN proceeded to broadcast an interview with Ms. Brown in which she falsely claimed that Ray J was at the hotel and contributed to Whitney Houston’s death. Even the most minimal inquiry with anyone actually in contact with Whitney  would reveal that Leolah Brown had been out of contact with Whitney for more than a year and was no where near the scene on the day of her death. We urge you not to republish these defamatory stories and caution you that doing so without attempting to verify the truth of same will cause significant damages to our client which  may result in legal action. Thank you for your cooperation with respect to this sensitive matter.

Well I can post it or not post it, but the truth of the matter is the LA County Coroner’s Office has released its report, and Whitney Houston died from accidental drowning. The sad part is that the coroner’s office believes cocaine was a contributing factor along with heart disease from years of cocaine abuse. There are many people who feel that Whitney’s memory shouldn’t be tainted with the negative things she did throughout her life, and there are people like me who feel it’s an opportunity to testify to the struggles all humans face. I don’t think less of Whitney Houston because she used drugs, in fact, I think highly of her for sharing her testimony regarding her drug use. I think highly of her for trying to kick her addiction and I think highly of her for being a loving mother through it all. There are not many people who can be so open or honest about their life, and still try to save others by teaching them about God’s love. Whitney Houston is worth all the honor, no matter what.

Harvey described the cocaine level in Whitney’s system as “acute” — indicating Whitney used the drug not long before she accidentally drowned in a bathtub…According to Harvey, the autopsy revealed a 60% narrowing of Whitney’s arteries — a direct result of the chronic cocaine use. Harvey claims the artery constriction led to a cardiac event before her death. As for the other drugs in her system — marijuana, Benadryl, Flexeril, and Xanax — which Harvey claims were all at or below therapeutic levels … and did not significantly contribute to her death.

So according to TMZ, here is what the coroner report reveals about that tragic night. I hope everyone can find some peace now, although this report only creates more questions:

Whitney Houston had cocaine in her system when she died — this according to the L.A. County Coroner.

The L.A. County Coroner has just released the singer’s official cause of death — accidental drowning … but the report also notes heart disease and cocaine use were contributing factors to Whitney’s demise.

Officials say Houston also had traces of marijuana in her system … as well as Xanax (anxiety medication), Flexeril (muscle relaxer) and Benadryl (allergy medication).

A source connected to the investigation tells us it is “very possible” Whitney had a heart attack that caused her to lose consciousness and drown. The heart attack may have been triggered by hardening of the arteries as a result of cocaine use.

• Whitney & Daughter Bobbi Kristina Spotted At Airport

Many people have speculated that the family is doing the interview because Oprah Winfrey offered them lots of money, but according to TMZ sources, Bobbi Christina chose to sit  with Oprah because she TRUSTS Oprah…continue for the details:

Bobbi Kristina isn’t doing her first post-Whitney interview with Oprah Winfrey because of the money — she’s doing it because the big O’s a close family friend … and Bobbi trusts her to be fair and respectful.

Bobbi is telling friends — Oprah “was loyal to my mom, and never did my mother wrong, or made her look bad. She always looked out for my mom.”

As a result, we’re told Bobbi feels Oprah would show her the same respect — not bringing up issues that could potentially show Bobbi in a negative light … i.e. substance abuse.

According to sources close to Bobbi, Oprah was one of the first people who reached out to her after Whitney passed.

Whitney Houston’s official program and obituary has been revealed. The one circulating on Friday is allegedly a keepsakes created by M.J. Edwards Funeral home in Tennessee “honoring” Whitney Houston, which explains all of the internet pictures and the fact that funeral home was no where near New Jersey. You may not be able to attend Whitney’s Houston’s funeral, but if you’re a huge fan, don’t worry, the funeral will stream live online. An obituary has also been released and fans can download the keepsake from Scribd for free, this is not the official obituary just a program honoring Ms Houston by a fan. I posted the pictures below. It’s one the most amazing I’ve seen. Too bad…it’s not the official one.

Here’s a look at Whitney Houston’s obituary. Her invite-only funeral is scheduled for Saturday Feb 18 at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, N.J. Praise Report: Looks like the family is working things out and Bobby Brown will attend the funeral.  The funeral is invitation-only, but it will be broadcast so that fans can have a moment, too. Bobbi Kristina is doing better, just needs privacy, prayer, and time to grieve outside the public’s eye.

Bobby Brown is expected to be in the pews Saturday at an invitation-only memorial service at Newark, New Jersey’s New Hope Baptist Church for his ex-wife Whitney Houston, despite the bad blood brewing between he and the singer’s family.

According to TMZ, memebers of Whitney Hoston’s family has banned Bobby Brown from seeing Bobbi Kristina. TMZ is also reporting that Bobby Brown may be banned from the funeral as well.

Bobby Brown still hasn’t seen his daughter — THREE days after Whitney Houston‘s death — and he thinks Whitney’s family … specifically, Cissy Houston, is throwing up the road block. Sources close to Bobby tell us he hasn’t connected with Bobbi Kristina since arriving in L.A. Sunday night — despite placing several phone calls and making an attempt to physically see her … early this morning. We’re told Brown was turned away by Whitney’s family and friends … who are caring for BK at a home in the Los Angeles area.

Bobby Brown is “extremely disappointed” after hearing that several members of Whitney Houston‘s family do not want him to attend the singer’s funeral … sources tell TMZ.  Sources close to Bobby tell us … people connected to the Houston family have reached out to Bobby to warn him that he shouldn’t attempt to attend the funeral because the family isn’t fond of him. However … we’re told Bobby has not received any OFFICIAL word from the family about his invite status.

I understand people are hurt, but now is not the time to feud. The funeral should be about Whitney Hoston, and no matter how much people don’t like it, the fact is Whitney loved Bobby Brown and she loved him hard. We can’t continue blame him for the choices made years ago. Something tells me, Bobby Brown is hurting enough on the inside for those choices, as well. With both of them having addiction issues, I am sure they have done a lot to hurt each other.  At the end of the day, when Bobby’s mother died, Whitney was there, and not only was she there, she sang Precious Lord at his mother’s funeral.

Bobbi Kristina is old enough to decide if she wants to see her father. If she doesn’t then Bobby Brown will have to respect that, but if people are keeping him away from her, that’s not cool. He may be the one to provide some comfort to her during her grief. I just wish people could use this time to heal, forgive, and let Ms Houston have her peace. You may not understand the love or the strong hold, we may not even like it, but there is no denying that it was there.

I have seen a lot of people leaving comments blaming Bobby Brown. Life is about choices and consequences, and at the end of the day we are all responsible for our choices. We all make choices that are not in our best interest for many different reasons, and sometimes the consequences are greater than we could have imagined. At the end of it all, we are the only ones that will stand accountable. Whitney Hoston lived a great life and unfortuantely we only focus on the bad, although we will never be able to take away her accomplishments.  She achieved well above and beyond the average human and not Bobby or the media or anyone else can erase that fact. The best gift the Hostons and the Browns can give Whitney, is to honor and respect the love she had for all of them for one day.Similar Posts:

I’m still in shock over Whitney Houston‘s sudden passing.  I had family members calling me over it. The last time that happened over a celebrity death was with Michael Jackson and I still cry over that.  But upon hearing about Whitney‘s death, the people over the Grammys scrambled to gather people to agree to do a tribute for the legendary singer.

Jennifer Hudson and Chaka Khan were scheduled to perform but at the last minute, Chaka dropped out.  She tweeted the following:

As I grieve the loss of my friend and “little sister,” I don’t feel it appropriate to perform at this time. Continue to pray for the family.

I completely understand her decision and probably would feel the same, if I were in her shoes.  So Jennifer took on the tribute by herself.  And I loved it. It was perfect. She was visibly shaken at times but made it through.  Check out the video, when you continue…
