Then there is me. I know it’s not about me, it’s about the soundtrack of my life, and all of the memories created by Whitney Houston and her songs. As long as I can remember there has always been a Whitney Houston. There has always been a WH song for every occasion that life has brought my way. My favorite memory of Whitney Houston, is the picture above from her first album in 1985. I thought she was the finest thing!!! This was before Naomi Campbell or Tyra Banks. I played that album over and over, and I definitely wasn’t old enough to really understand the lyrics, but I knew them…word for word from beginning to end. The sad thing is no one knows how or where she was found dead as of now, but reports are coming in.  All we know is that according to breaking news, the singer is gone.

UPDATE: Latest – Whitney was found by her hairdresser in the bathtub underwater, her bodyguard removed her unconscious body and began CPR. According to TMZ, Xanax was discovered at the scene, and Whitney may have accidentally drowned from falling asleep in the tub under the influence of the prescription drug. An autopsy will be performed today, but results may not be released until after the toxicology reports are finished. Cause of death as of today, still under investigation.

UPDATE: 8:03 PM- Paramedics were called to the Beverly Hilton today when Houston was found unresponsive in her hotel room … sources tell TMZ.

We’re told police arrived to the scene within minutes and fire was already there on another call. According to our sources, paramedics performed CPR but it did not work and she was pronounced dead at 3:55 PM.

UPDATE: 7:41 PM- Ray J found the singer’s body in the hotel room, and is visibly upset according to CNN. Ray J says, “I’m tripping right now.”

UPDATE 7:40 PM- According to our sources, Houston died at the Beverly Hilton hotel. A police crime lab vehicle was seen outside the hotel just moments ago.

Soon as more information comes in we will update this post, but prior to this information Whitney Houston’s behavior was described as erratic.  RIP! You can see that she needed help, I just don’t understand Hollywood sometimes…They had to know she wasn’t healthy. Here’s what TMZ is reporting:

 Whitney Houston died this afternoon … a rep for the singer told the Associated Press.

According to our sources, Houston died at the Beverly Hilton hotel. A police crime lab vehicle was seen outside the hotel just moments ago. So far, the details surround Houstin’s death are unclear.

Cornelius died from a gunshot wound to the head and officials believe the wound was self-inflicted.

We’re told Cornelius was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

If there’s one thing that TMZ is dependable about, it’s about celebrity deaths. Such sad news to hear.  This also comes as a disturbing closing to Don’s life, as he made some morbid statements about his life not very long ago, when dealing with his divorce in 2009…He pointed out that he had significant health issues and wanted to “finalize this divorce before I die.”  Our prayers go out to his family.Similar Posts:

Today, in a new generation, many young people know Etta James as the woman portrayed by Beyonce in Cadillac Records, a movie about Chess Records where Etta James was first signed. True to form of speaking her mind, Etta James is also infamous for attacking President Obama and Beyonce. James didn’t appreciate Beyonce trying to steal her song during Obama’s inauguration, and she let both of them have it:

Talk about blaming the victim. Not only isn’t there any remorse, there is umbrage and outrage on the part of Dr. Murray against the decedent…The fact remains, Dr. Murray is offended that [his] patient died.

Michael Jackson died not because of an isolated one-off occurrence or incident. He died because of a totality of circumstances which are directly attributable to Dr. Murray, not some mistake or some accident in the early morning hours of 2009.

An outraged judge sentenced Michael Jackson’s doctor Conrad Murray to four years in prison today for involuntary manslaughter in the singer’s death.

Judge Michael Pastor called Murray’s treatment of Jackson a “cycle of horrible medicine” and “medicine madness.”

Murray, 58, treated Jackson like a “medical experiment,” the judge said, which factored into his decision to hand down the maximum sentence of four years, which the Jackson family had requested.

Hev had great love for his family and friends; he was a kind and giving spirit who extended and shared himself with everyone who crossed his path. He had a heart of gold, was approachable, very personable and gave of himself willingly and unconditionally. Though Hev will most notably be remembered for his work both behind-the-scenes and in the forefront, he will always be remembered by us as a generous soul who remained humble and unselfish till his final days.

Out of all Hev’s successes and accomplishments, in his eyes, his most important triumph was that of becoming a father. Hev’s love for his daughter Xea was profound–she was the center of his life, his heart, his soul. He often said “I cannot live without her and that she embodied every phenomenal attribute that he brought to this world”. The name and the success of Heavy D will always be synonymous with music forever. He never compromised his values and artistry, and encouraged his peers to do the same. To us, Hev was the one who made us laugh, cry, sing, dance and turn a frown upside down. As a family, we are devastated by Hev’s passing but through our faith in God and support from family, friends and fans-we are comforted, blessed and will remain strong. His “bear hugs” are going to be deeply missed.”

In the documentary, Murray reveals Jackson regularly “peed the bed.”

“The bedroom that he slept in I had to persuade him, eventually to have it cleaned,” Murray said in the film. “He peed the bed. It did not smell good. It was mildew, and I had to get it clean.”

Murray said Jackson urinating in the bed may have had to do with psychological issues saying, “Who would ever believe that a man his age would still be wetting his bed?” {via NY Post}

Dr. Conrad Murray also talks about Michael Jackson’s child like behavior of sleeping with dolls, and that MJ often refers to propofol (the drugged that killed him) as “milk”. After reading this, I hope Dr. Conrad Murray gets some jail time…

In the doc, Murray also claims that Jackson referred to propofol, the anesthesia believed to have killed him, as “milk.”

“He asked me, ‘Please, please, Dr. Conrad … I need some milk so that I can sleep. If I don’t get any sleep today, I cannot perform, I cannot do anything,’” Murray said, according to reports. “He was pleading and begging me to please, please let him have some ‘milk,’ because that was the only thing that would work.”

Lastly, Murray talks about MJ’s obsession of sleeping with dolls:

Explain a 50-year-old man who sleeps with a baby doll and has pictures of basically infants to 2-year-old children looking at him every night?”

As Twitter is quick to declare someone dead without any confirmation, I know I prayed that the information wasn’t true.  But, only a few minutes ago, Harvey Levin of TMZ posted the story below.  *sigh*

Heavy D — real name Dwight Arrington Myers — was rushed to L.A. hospital around noon

today…and was pronounced dead at the hospital at 1 P.M.

The jury has just announced the guilty verdict for Dr Conrad Murray, who was on trial for involuntary manslaughter in the death of singer Michael Jackson.  Dr Murray remained emotionless as the crowd outside of the courthouse erupted in cheers.

Dr. Murray’s last tweet seems sort of cryptic now.  While this verdict won’t bring MJ back to us, this will hopefully provide closure for the Jackson family.  Check out LaToya Jackson’s tweet before heading to the courthouse, after the jump…plus check out the video:

Even though many of us don’t personally know Steve Jobs, he has changed most of our lives, and added a level of convenience and luxury to our lives. If you don’t have an ipad, iphone, ipod, or ibook, then I am not sure what century you’re living in, but certainly you at least know someone with a product made by Apple. It’s under the leadership of Steve Jobs, that Apple has become America’s number one company.

My heart and prayers go out to his family, and they don’t have to worry because his legacy will live on, and he has definitely etched out a spot in history.

Apple released a statement earlier today regarding the death of Jobs, read the statement when you continue…Jobs died tonight Wednesday, October 5th, from complications involving pancreatic cancer.

We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today. Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.

I couldn’t agree more…

The Los Angeles Times is streaming a live feed of the courtroom online, for people who want to follow this trial moment by moment. I JUST started to watch the trial not too long ago and fell apart when they played the iPhone recording of Michael describing his hope for the “This Is It” tour, while under the influence of “unknown agents”. Those cheese squares of crunchy goodness surely guaranteed his name is in the Book of Life.  And, as we say down here, everything is bigger in Texas.  Both in size AND in levels of extremeness.  According to The Dallas Morning News, the family of Mr. West will send him off to the upper room in a way that would do him justice.  Check out the family’s burial plans after the jump…

As Mr. West is laid to rest the family will then sprinkle his grave site with crushed Doritos, before having his casket buried.  It’s truly the most appropriate way to send of the inventor of one of the greatest snacks this country has seen.  Every time I open a bag of Doritos and see the crushed chips at the bottom, I will take a moment to remember this man and his greatness. just received truly devastating news: R&B great, and my friend of many yrs, Vesta Williams (@vesta4u), has passed away. #RIPVesta {via Jackee}

So here’s the problem. Seven out of nine of the witness have recanted their stories and admitted to feeling pressured by the prosecution to convict Troy Davis. Most importantly another man, by the name of Sylvester Coles, has confessed to the crime according to many witnesses.  Troy Davis is linked to the crime only through eye-witnesses, seven out of nine have recanted, the gun involved has yet to be found, plus there is no DNA or any solid forensic evidence, plus Troy Davis was 19 years old at the time.

I’m not necessarily against the death penalty as a form of punishment, but I do know in this country the justice system isn’t fair or accurate. If you’re going to kill a man for a crime make sure he’s guilty beyond the shadow of any doubt, like Timothy McVeigh, Charles Manson, or Jeffrey Dhamer. It definitely shouldn’t be used as a tool of racism, or in cases where the evidence is questionable at best even if the man is guilty or not. Anytime you kill an innocent person for a crime they did not commit, you are a murderer, and the whole system fails.

Today is the last day to save Troy Davis and to speak out against shady convictions. Black men who kill white men are 40% more likely to get the death penalty over white men who kill black men, same crimes but very different sentences. Secondly, poor people are more likely to receive the death penalty over those with money, again same crimes, but different out comes. The system is not always fair or just, and many times these people are convicted by eye witnesses accounts and no forensics or DNA proof. I don’t know if Troy Davis is guilty or innocent, but I do know that if seven out nine people have recanted their testimony, and that there is another possible suspect that was also at the scene and involved in the assault, then this man, Troy Davis should not be put to death.

This situation is sad and tragic, and Mark MacPhail family deserves justice as well. The mother of the officer feels like Troy Davis’ death will bring her peace. If the wrong man is killed, there will be no peace, especially if evidence exists that can prove another person may have committed the crime. Then you have two people dead, and still no justice. The best way to find peace is make something good come of the life that Officer Mark McPhail lived. I would rather see Mark McPhail’s name live on, than to see another life lost.

Troubled British singer Amy Winehouse has been found dead in her London home, the Daily Mail, the BBC and Sky News are reporting.
The Grammy-winning singer, who had a long history of drug and alcohol abuse and spent time in rehab, was found by emergency services on Saturday afternoon. She was 27. According to the Daily Mail, the Metropolitan Police released the following statement:

“Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05 hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased.” {Amy Winehouse Found Dead At 27 Years Old}

Well, I was a fan of her Back to Black album. It was refreshing to hear something so honest and soulful, from the other side of the pond, and not by black artist. So here are more two favorite songs from the album:

Casey Anthony better watch her back because in the court of public opinion, she is GUILTY killing of Caylee Marie. Vigilante justice can be the worst kind…Read the details when you continue

After nearly six weeks of testimony, a panel of seven women and five men decided that Ms. Anthony did not murder Caylee by dosing her with chloroform, suffocating her with duct tape and dumping her in a wooded area, as prosecutors claimed. They also did, however, find her guilty of lesser charges, of providing false information to law enforcement officers. The jury did not ask to review any evidence.

When the verdict was read, Ms Anthony, 25, who faced a possible death sentence, cried.

The verdict vindicates the defense, which argued from the start that Caylee drowned accidentally in the family swimming pool and that the death was concealed by her panicked grandfather, George Anthony, and Ms. Anthony.

It also drove home just how circumstantial the prosecution’s case proved to be.
