Who run the world? Beyonce.
Mrs. Carter is still soaring from the success of her surprise, self-titled visual album and is not slowing down anytime soon. The mother resides as queen of the music industry and continues to make bankable gains in the world of fashion, film and beyond. With such success it seems the songstress has not forgotten from where she came- Beyonce has reportedly donated over 7 million dollars to help build housing for homeless youth in her hometown of Houston.
The 32-year-old singer is notorious for her philanthropic work yet like much of her private life she tends to keep acts of charity concealed. This multi-million dollar donation toward the construction of low-income housing for homeless families in the Houston area has been an ongoing project for Knowles.
Beyonce’s contributions have gone towards a 43-unit apartment complex named Knowles-Temenos Place, which is said to offer “affordable housing opportunities for extremely-low to low-income persons as well as homeless individuals.”
Beyonce continues to inspire with her work in both music and beyond. Goodness knows that this girl has got cookin’ up for the future…
Recently G.O.O.D Music rapper Big Sean returned to his old neighborhood in Detroit where he served as principal for the day at Bates Academy. In conjunction with the Detroit branch of Get Schooled, Big Sean helped the school celebrate with good attendance. The rapper was welcomed by the students with handmade signs and even a special cheer from the schools cheerleading team.

It’s good to see that there are still rappers out here doing good for their communities.
There has been great debate over whether or not Beyonce is a feminist because of how she dresses, or that her performances can be overly sexual objectifying women. These debates are petty distractions from the main point of feminism. What is lost in these debate is the fact that Beyonce has just written a check for $500,000 to actually empower the lives of girls and young women globally.
The check is a donation to Chime for Change, a non-profit organization celebrating its one year anniversary. Beyonce co-founded the organization with actress Selma Hayek and Gucci designer Frida Giannini. The aim of Chime is to:
Focus on using innovative approaches to raise funds and awareness for projects promoting Education, Health and Justice for girls and women. To date, we’ve rallied support
The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala is one of the fashion highlights of the year, dubbed the Sartorial Parade of who’s who in the most elite of social circles. This year the institute celebrates British designer Charles James, known for his refined taste and elegance, and Ms. Anna Wintour editor of Vogue. Anna Wintour receives a special gift of having the Costume Institute re-named in her honor as the Anna Wintour Costume Center.
Although there are lot of other details to discuss, like First Lady Michelle Obama cutting the ribbon at the newly named Anna Wintour Costume Center, most of you really only care about the red carpet fashions and who’s wearing what. Beyonce, Jay-Z, Erykah Badu, and Naomi Campbell all hit up the red carpet wearing Givenchy.
Lupita Nyong’o however steals the night with this beautiful Prada number that looks like it was designed specifically with Lupita in mind.
Rihanna takes the edgy approach in Stella McCartney, and Kim Kardashian-West plays it safe in Lanvin, but Kanye West on the other hand looks quite fly in his Lanvin tails. The couple have definitely mastered the art of smizing. “Continue Reading…”
Jada Pinkett-Smith is taking it back to the old school Jada with short hair. The actress has been seen around town sporting a new pixie do. I’m so use to Jada with long hair now, it may take a while to adjust, but I do believe I like it.
Although this hairstyle is a hot topic, Jada Pinkett-Smith debuts her new style while discussing a documentary for CNN on human trafficking. Jada discusses how easy it is for women to slip into a lifestyle that leads to prostitution, especially in Atlanta, where young women view stripping as a way of being independent.
