Jenna & Barbara Bush Kicking It With Liberals & Celebrities

The Bush twins, Jenna and Barabra, were hanging out with the Simmons girls, Vanessa and Angela during the Diamond Empowerment Fund (DEF) here in Dallas, TX. The DEF is an international non-profit organization that supports the education of disadvantage children in African countries hit hardest by the diamond trade. Jenna and Barbara Bush were recognized for their hard work in education, in areas hit hardest by poverty. Russel Simmons reference them as “true inspirations”.

The awards was founded by Beverly Bond, a hip-hop dj, who wanted to celebrate women of color who are role models for at-risk teens. This year’s honorees included, Janelle Monae, Mary J Blige, Anthony Hamilton, and Spinderella.

Janet Jackson’s MJ tribute was amazing! It wasn’t her greatest performance but she did her brother justice. I’m sure he would be proud.

The classy lady of the hour, Beyonce, looking stunning!

Solange always switching it up and taking fashion risks! This outfit wasn’t my favorite but cute nonetheless. Funny, she kept tweeting through out the show. At one point she even said she wanted to go home. lol

Jennifer Lopez’s rare appearance since giving birth to twins Max and Emme. She looks great!

Lady Gaga is crazy! But to be honest I loved every minute Funny how she kept changing outfits!

Alicia Keys, beautiful as always. Didn’t like this outfit as much though. She killed her performance with Jay Z on “Empire State of Mind”. If she wasn’t on the hook I don’t think I would like this record.

Keri Hilson. Cute pants suit.

Cassie always looks so beautiful no matter what she wears. But I don’t really like this dress.

I don’t know what to say about this trio, Dirty Money. Another ne of Diddy’s attempts at staying relevant I guess.

If you’re going to do it right, it makes sense to use a Jackson. Every year, I say I’m not watching another award show, and something happens to make me watch. Well something is happening, Janet Jackson is opening the MTV Video Awards with a tribute to her brother, Michael Jackson. This is a must see. I hope to see you all on Twitter watching the MTV Video Awards this Sunday, September 13th at 9 ET/ 8 CT.

Jennifer Hudson will help Oprah kick-off her 24th season, with her first performance after giving birth to a baby boy with fiance, David Daniel Otunga, Jr. The show will be held on Michigan Ave in Chicago, and will be a star-studded event. Here is a sneak peak of the show. I can’t wait, I am so excited. The show will air on September 10th, so check your local listing for times. Other performers include: Criss Angel, The Black Eye Pease, Rascal Flats, and James Taylor.

BET AWARDS: Finally the Michael Jackson Tribute. Janet Jackson said: to us he’s an icon, to them he’s family. Wow, that almost got me. But it wasn’t a tribute all the stories that leaked from L.A. panned out to be untrue, or not as exciting as the hype. It ended with a Jaime Foxx & Ne-Yo duet.

BET AWARDS: Alicia Keys and Wyclef receive humanitarian awards for their global philanthropy, and Tiny accepts viewer’s choice awards on behalf of T.I.

BET AWARDS: Tyrese, Tevin, Campbell, Trey Songz, and Johnny Gill did a tribute to the O’Jays. Whoa! I forget them can sing like that. Kanye West, Amber Rose, and Diddy were all grooving to the O’Jays

BET AWARDS: Old School performances by Keith Sweat, Guy, and Bell Biv Devoe; Plus Keyshia Cole and Monica Duet

With so much negative news coming through, it’s nice to see a little hope. You want find this in the paper or most media, but Denzel Washington and wife, Pauletta honored students with scholarships for their academic achievements in Science held at the Johnnie L. Cochran Jr. Middle School in Los Angeles, CA.

Denzel is pictured below with two of the recipients of the scholarship, Wes Phillips, and Marcus Gates. The third recipient not pictured below is Marisa Riley. The scholarships are in the amounts of $2000 per month for undergraduate study, $2500 per month for graduate study.

Can I just say thank you to the Washington family…

Actress Alfre Woodward with the support of Grey Goose, hosted a dinner party to honor Taraji P Henson and Viola Davis. Both Taraji P Henson and Viola Davis were nominated by the Academy (Oscars) for “Best Supporting Actress”. Trajai was nominated for her role in the “Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” and Viola was nominated for “Doubt”.

In attendance: Halle Berry, Regina Hall, Regina King, Sanaa Lathan, Kimberly Elise, Angela Bassett, and Tracy Ellis Ross.

Style Trends
Someone must have forward the same dress memo to January Jones, Penelope Cruz, Kyra Sedgwick and Jamie-Lynn Sigler because they all arrived in midnight black.

Blue of any shade was a standout color thanks to Kate Winslet, Angelina Jolie, Freida Pinto, and Nicolette Sheridan.

Gold and yellow turned up on Viola Davis, Marisa Tomei and Jennifer Morrison.

Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Taraji P. Henson let their back do the talking.

Here’s a face off between Tina Fey and America Ferrera in Brian Reyes. America first wore this look in blue with matching Christian Louboutin suede peep-toes to the NYC premiere of Sisterhood of Traveling Pants 2. At this year’s SAG, Tina walked down in the brown version. Which lady pulled off the look?
