Two-time GRAMMY winner Adele has six nominations: Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Best Short Form Music Video for “Rolling In The Deep”; Album Of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for 21; and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Someone Like You.”

The cast walked away with the most highly coveted award of the night, Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

Don Cheadle presented Octavia Spencer with her first SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her role as Minny Jackson. She dedicated her award “to the downtrodden, the undeserved, the unprivileged and overtaxed, whether emotionally, psychically or financially.”

In what some might consider an upset, Viola Davis was voted best among her peers for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role. She looked stunning in her Marchesa gown as she accepted her award. She shared that she wanted to be an actor since the age of 8 and that in this industry there comes a lot of rejection, but it was the work of Meryl Streep that inspired her while she was in college. Ironically, it was Streep-who stated in her SAG Award acceptance speech three years prior for the movie Doubt, in which she co-starred with Viola-“[to] the gigantically gifted Viola Davis — my God, somebody give her a movie!”

The Oscars will be live on ABC on Sunday, February 26th at 7 PM Eastern.  Viola just won a Golden Globe for her role as Aibileen Clark just week over a week ago. Viola is nominated in a very tough category, in my opinion.  Other actresses joining Viola in the Actress In A Leading Role category are Glenn Close, Rooney Mara, Meryl Streep and Michelle Williams. Octavia will be against Bérénice Bejo, Jessica Chastain (Also from The Help), Melissa McCarthy and Janet McTeer in the Actress In A Supporting Role category.

Rihanna and Chris Brown partied at the same club last night, fueling growing rumors they’re back together. The two singers left Greystone Manor — a West Hollywood club — separately, but they were both definitely there at the same time. {TMZ}

I guess LA is really small because these two keep going to the same places, but not actually crossing paths. Rihanna and Chris Brown are both scheduled to attend at the Grammys, and I think all of this publicity is leading up to their first public re-union. Chris Brown’s and Rihanna’s publicists were both asked about their secret love affair, and this is what their publicists had to say about those rumors:

Chris Rep tells ABC News, “He and Rihanna are just friends. He is with his girlfriend, Karrueche, and is not cheating.”

While Rihanna’s rep declined to comment on the issue. *side-eye* Anyway, according to eye witnesses, the two were spotted at club, Greystone Manor, but they did not interact, and Karrueche, was riding shot-gun with Breezy. I guess, LA is just a small place after all, or someone is being messy:

Chris, 22, was seen leaving the club through the front door, getting into his Range Rover with a group of friends, while Rihanna, 23, left through a side door hopping into a waiting SUV with a bodyguard.

Both appeared to be in jovial moods, with Chris beaming from behind the wheel, and Rihanna, who had just arrived back from holidaying in Hawaii hours earlier, smiling and laughing as she waited to be whisked away in the back seat of her ride.{Chris Brown & Rihanna Party At Club Together}

Publicly, they are getting closer and closer. It’s just a matter of time before their teams prepare for this re-union publicity wave. Hopefully it all happens before the Grammys in February, but if not, we will be watching the awards show to see how the cameraman pan the audience.

Congrats on that, LL!  LL has been hosting The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown To Music’s Biggest Night events since it began in December 2008.  He’s put in some time with the folks over at The Grammys, so it’s nice to see his hard work pay off in a big way. The night will also include a first time opportunity for nominee Nicki Minaj…This will be her first time performing on the show. I’m kind of interested in what kind of show she’ll put on for the crowd, knowing of her past…umm…unique? The show featured an electrifying performance Lil Wayne, Birdman, Tyga and Lil Twist. Rap artists including Rick Ross, Bow Wow, Red Cafe, Lil Twist, Mack Maine, Tyga, Short Dawg and Gudda Gudda joined in on the discussion of the hottest moments in hip-hop from 2011 and gave their opinion on which artist they feel should win the gilded “Sucker Free Awards” crowns. The show was hosted by Sway Calloway. DJ Irie was the show’s house DJ, DJ Khaled was a guest commentator and DJ Envy was also on hand to give viewers a look at all the action.

So…Why did Eddie Murphy withdraw from the Academy Awards? Well it’s really simple, the Academy fires producer Brett Ratner, and Eddie Murphy isn’t having it. Brett Ratner is resigning as producer after using offensive language targeting homosexuals at a premiere of Tower Heist. Brett Ratner is the director of Tower Heist, which stars also Eddie Murphy. So Brett Ratner is responsible for recruiting Eddie Murphy as host of the Oscars. So simply put, Eddie Murphy withdraws from the Oscars because he is standing by his man, Brett Ratner.

When asked during Q&A session after the screening of Tower Heist, if he [Brett Ratner] practiced with his actors before shooting a scene, Ratner replied, “Rehearsing is for fags.”

Ratner later apologized for the statement:

It was a dumb way of expressing myself. Everyone who knows me knows that I don’t have a prejudiced bone in my body. But as a storyteller I should have been much more thoughtful about the power of language and my choice of words.

But the apology didn’t stop the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) from demanding Ratner’s resignation. Minutes after Ratner resigned as producer of the 84th Academy Awards, Eddie Murphy resigned, too. Here is Murphy’s statement straight from the press release:

First and foremost I want to say that I completely understand and support each party’s decision with regard to a change of producers for this year’s Academy Awards ceremony. I was truly looking forward to being a part of the show that our production team and writers were just starting to develop, but I’m sure that the new production team and host will do an equally great job.

The statement is offensive to some people, but it’s all about context, too. Ratner uses a poor choice of words, but his intention is not to offend a group of people out of hatred. An apology is all that’s needed in my opinion, but hey, I’m not gay.

Jennifer Lopez nearly in tears as she accepts the award, dedicates her speech to the women in her life, who are obviously helping her through difficult times with the divorce and transitioning to a single mother of twins.

It’s the women. Through the ups and the not so ups, that’s the one thing that got me through. My grandmother, who taught me to cook and not be afraid to serve and be humble. And to go out looking nice because people like that and then they respect you…My daughter Emme (3) inspires me to be a better human being.
