I should save this post for my Woman Crush Wednesday #WCW because Jill Scott is out her looking FINE (F-A-H-N). The singer reportedly has lost over 63 lbs by changing her diet, and exercising with trainer Scott Parker. 60 minutes of cardio and strength training three times a week has gotten Jill Scott a new waistline. The singer’s motivation is her son, Jett.
There’s a world of discovery in his eyes and I want to be around to enjoy it!
You should already know from reading this blog how much I love me some Jill Scott; she’s my favorite contemporary artist. That beautiful smile, and now this body:
Don’t worry, Jilly does not plan on getting too thin in the waist. She embraces her curves, and says, “I’ll never be a stick figure.” More pics of Jill in all black at the UNCF below:
I just had to share this video, which pretty much speaks for itself. Young black male students from Illinois’ Central High School are trying to change the negative stereotypes of young black men with this video Suit & Tie in the 217. These babies are dressed in their finest to project a counter image of black teen sagging to their knees, wearing oversize jerseys and hoodies.
The students used in this video are successful student scholars, athletes, and representatives for our schools. They are National Honor Society members, Honor Roll members, future collegiate athletes, and future college students at several Big Ten Universities. They are also Eagle Scouts, military personnel, and poets. They are class of 2014 and 2015.

Pharrell has some interesting words and an interesting perspective on the backlash he’s received regarding the cover art for his album G I R L which did not feature any women with night-shade skin. Pharrell sits down for an emotional and very revealing interview with Oprah for Oprah Prime, and the topic of the album cover comes up, as well as the lyrics to Blurred Lines which have been tagged as “misogynist”, and IMO rightfully so. Now Pharrell is one of my favorite people, I know he hates defending his art, but his words to Oprah suggests that he doesn’t understand the depth of the arguments behind the backlash.
On the topic of dark skinned women not appearing on the artwork for the album entitled, G I R L, Pharrell suggests their is a new black mentality and black women who are insecure should find love in the mirror and not on the cover of albums or magazines. Dayum!
From day one of Love & Hip Hop ATL, I always tried to figure out, how someone like MiMi Faust would get caught up with a shady character like Mr. Pringles aka Stevie J. That’s because I’d mistaken MiMi for someone naively in love, but little did I know that MiMi wasn’t naive at all, she was just that thirsty. Mimi was very willing to play her part in the Stevie J and Joseline love triangle for a few coins, and very little fame.
The thirst just got real because Mimi and her gay boyfriend Nikko, K Michelle words not mine, have signed a contract with Vivid Entertainment to release a “home” movie a la Kim Kardashian mode to the public. Not sure if there really is a market for this particular tape, but Love & Hip ATL producers are certainly excited about the publicity the tape will generate. If Mona Scott-Young isn’t a pimp then I don’t know who is. This show is so low to the ground that it isn’t worth your soul to watch or support it.

Drake and Rihanna are getting closer and closer as Chris Brown sits in jail thinking about all of the chances he’s had to make it right by Rihanna. Poor ting *in my Rihanna accent*. Kind of sad that it takes Chris Brown going to rehab and jail for Rihanna to really move on, but it looks like she’s found love in the arms of Drake. I joke that Drake is winning by default, but their relationship is growing stronger and more public by the day.
I think these two are good together like everyone else, my only issue is that Rihanna is a loyal person, Drake, not so much. He’s sweet, but he’s still a womanizer. His body count is high. Hopefully having his dream girl will change things, and hopefully Chris Brown can give Rihanna his blessing and let her move on.
