Yaya DaCosta to Portray Whitney Houston In Upcoming Biopic
Yaya DaCosta-Alafia is scoring one gig after another in Hollywood. The America’s Next Top Model finalist has secured a role in the upcoming Whitney Houston biopic as ‘The Voice’ herself.
“Yaya DaCosta has landed the greatest role of all, playing Whitney Houston in Lifetime’s upcoming biopic of the late star, TVLine has learned exclusively.”
According to the media source, Yaya will portray Houston during her rise to stardom. Such moments will include Whitney’s relationship with R&B singer Bobby Brown, and her intense battle with drugs that some say she lost in the end.
The ‘I Look To You’ singer passed away on February 11, 2012, while staying at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Houston was found unresponsive in her bathtub just two days after making her final appearance onstage with Kelly Price.
While many are excited to hear of Houston’s biopic coming to Lifetime in 2015, some of Whitney’s family members believe that her story should be taken to the Big screen. “Whitney is certainly worthy of more than a television movie,” says Pat Houston to TMZ. “ If Whitney were here today, this would not be happening.”
Whitney Houston was 48-years-old at the time of her death.
