Kandi Burruss On Prenup: ‘I’m Not Paying Spousal Support’
Kandi Burruss is not planning on paying spousal support to anyone. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star recently sat down with The Grio to explain why she opted for a prenuptial agreement before tying the knot with husband Todd Tucker. To the surprise of some, spousal support was one of the primary reasons why she asked her husband to sign on the dotted line.
“I feel like we should work together to make money together. The things that I’m trying to protect are the things that I had going into the marriage, meaning: Bedroom Kandi, my music, my stores, my properties and different things that I had going into the marriage,” said Kandi.
The celeb also explained,
“I’m not paying spousal support, oh no. I’m seeing too much going on right now. Halle Berry’s paying $20,000 a month in child support, and then poor Sherri [Shepherd], she had a pre-nup and now [her husband, John Sally] is coming after her [for spousal support]. They’ve only been married a few years. Are you kidding me?”
Although some view Kandi’s motion for a prenup as a sign of her not trusting her husband, the Reality TV star told The Grio that the agreement has nothing to do with whether she believes Todd to be loyal or not. “You have to protect yourself,” shared the star. “Y’all know how divorce happens out of the blue.”
