Fantasia Barrino: ‘There Hasn’t Been An Easy Part At All, Not In My Journey’
It’s been nearly ten years since Fantasia Barrino made entry into the music industry as a singer, and she’s still excited about the business. The entertainer recently sat down with Billboard to talk about her experience as an artist, and how she plans to do more in coming years.
“There hasn’t been an easy part at all, not in my journey,” explained the singer. “But I’m grateful because it made me the woman I am now. I’ll be 30 on June 30. So I can say wow, I’m so glad I’ve touched the things I don’t want to touch at 30 and done the things that I don’t want to do at 30.”
Barrino addressed the criticism she’s received these past few months by telling media,
“Someone’s always going to try and find something. At this point, however, it really doesn’t matter. I’m not trying to please anyone. I just want to have peace and be able to hit the stage and sing. If you like it, thank you. If you don’t, I’m sorry. I think I would go crazy if I couldn’t hit the stage. It’s my therapy. It’s the place where I can just let loose and be free. It’s also my way of giving God back the glory for giving me this gift.”
When asked to describe herself now the artist said, “Fantasia then was young, green, gullible, fun. She’s still fun now, but wiser.” Barrino plans to release her fifth studio album in coming months.
