Countess Vaughn Reveals Horrifying Battle With Lace Front Wigs
Countess Vaughn makes a guest appearance on the TV show, The Doctors to discuss her horrifying and unhealthy battle with lace front wigs. I know this sounds comical because we make wig-snatching lace front jokes quite often, but the Meet the Parkers actress, openly shares her side effects of wearing lace front wigs for over five years to maintain a certain look in the industry. Countess Vaughn started wearing lace fronts in 2004:
Five years later the drama came in. The red flag was…the oozing…from my ears, from my forehead, the whole nape around my head. The pus! It had a horrible smell, it was painful. I let this go by for six months. What I didn’t realize is that I had a bad reaction to the glue that I used to apply the wig, so my hair started falling out.
This is hard for me to understand because I’m not in the industry, and I love being natural, but man this should make people want to stay away from gluing hair onto their foreheads. There’s more, Vaughn goes on talk about how the wigs left her discolored and bald. Check out a few pics, plus the video below:
Now I have discoloration. People assume, “Do you have Vitiligo?” Anywhere you would apply the wig and put tape on, I’m lighter in those areas, and I use makeup to cover it up. The skin under my eyes peeled off because of the clue. The skin came off my ears. With eyeliner I’m literally drawing in my hairline.
I was embarrassed, you have to be at home, and be bald. I had to go through this to teach my little one, you gotta love yourself before anyone else will.
I’m glad she’s telling her story.
