Dove launched a campaign to help women see and appreciate their unique beauty. They hired a forensic artist from the San Jose Police Department to sketch women according to how the women saw themselves based on self-descriptions. The forensic artist hid behind a curtain and asked the women a series of questions to describe everything from their hair to their complexion to their most prominent features. The forensic artist drew a sketch without looking at the women.
The women were also asked to meet and get to know one other person in the group. After the women finished their sketch, they were then asked to describe the features of the other person in their group. The forensic artist then sketched another picture from behind the curtain based off the descriptions he received from their peers. The results were quite interesting and a little shocking:
