So the National Rifle Association (NRA) decides to make an ad, which features an attack on President Obama by using his kids as the analogy. Not only that, the NRA also calls the President of the United States, an “elitist hypocrite” for having the secret service protect his family:
Are the president’s kids more important than yours? Then why is he skeptical about putting armed security in our schools when his kids are protected by armed guards at their school? Mr. Obama demands the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes, but he’s just another elitist hypocrite when it comes to a fair share of security.
The White House is fighting back, and they are not choosing their words lightly. Check out the full statement when you continue…
Most Americans agree that a president’s children should not be used as pawns in a political fight, but to go so far as to make the safety of the President’s children the subject of an attack ad is repugnant and cowardly.
Don’t get it twisted, NRA is using manipulation and intimidation to get their way. Having the audacity to call the President a hypocrite because he doesn’t agree with their policy as the solution, is beyond repugnant. So now we want teachers to become police officers, or have armed guards at every school? There goes freedom! Are we going to be required to own a gun through mandates, now? Who’s going to pay for these programs? Surely not the government. Any how the NRA is not happy with the White House’s statement and had this to say:
Whoever thinks the ad is about President Obama’s daughters are missing the point completely or they’re trying to change the subject. This ad is about keeping our children safe. And the president said he was skeptical about the NRA proposal to put policemen in all schools in this country. Yet he and his family are beneficiaries of multiple law enforcement officers surrounding them 24-hours a day. That’s the real issue. Anything else is an attempted calculated distraction.
First off the those guardsmen come with the office. Secondly, the President’s daughters are targeted by many evil people, including those with NRA membership. To suggest that the President doesn’t value our kids, because his kids have privileges that comes with the office, is an unfair and dumb analogy. All kids should have secret service men, too. It almost sounds like entitlement, or what’s the word, aha, socialism.
I’ve seen my President shed tears for these children, meet with the families, and offer his condolences. I haven’t seen the NRA do anything but play politics to dodge criticism in order to protect their organization, and its membership. I hope people change the subject…this ad was classless!
