Aaliyah’s brother Rashad confirmed on twitter, that nor he or his family supports an Aaliyah album with hip-hop singer, Drake. I really don’t understand why people don’t get the family’s blessing first before changing someone’s legacy, posthumous. Rashad is definitely not on board with this Drake/Aaliyah album.
There is no official album being released and supported by the Haughton family.
Drake wants to do a whole Aaliyah album. One song perhaps is enough, but a whole album of Drake rap-singing to remnants of Aaliyah’s outtakes is just too much. I love and adore Aaliyah. I grew-up with Aaliyah’s music as the soundtrack of my life, we’re are only two years apart. I don’t care how much Drake loves Aaliyah, this just doesn’t feel right. If you don’t have the blessing of Aaliyah’s family then why do this project. Her legacy is so beautiful and pure, almost perfect, not ready to see people re-interpret her essence years after her passing. But what do I know, I said the same thing about Sparkle, and I can’t wait to see the re-make om August 17th.
I’m kinda excited for this one. According to Variety, Dr. Dre will be linking up with FX Network to produce a new TV crime drama project. Although FX has purchased the hour-long script, it could quite possibly open the door for an entire series.
The script, written by Sidney Quashie and Dr Dre, takes a look at today’s music industry and how it ties in the crime within the city. That sounds like it could make a few people mad and open the eyes of others. No word on when it will make it’s premiere but I will keep an ear out. What about you? Does this sound like a winner?
Goodness! Natalie Hawkins, the mother of Olympic Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas speaks out on this hair issue that just will not die. In an interview with Fashionista.com, again the question regarding the drama of Gabby’s hair re-surfaces, and I think Mrs. Hawkins says it best. First she wants you to know: Why is Gabby’s hair any of your concern when you didn’t help Gabby get to the Olympics. Secondly, Gabby is 16 and lives with a host family who didn’t know anything about taking care of black hair.
She [Gabby to her mother] said,”Really?! I won two gold medals and made history and my hair is trending?” So we laughed about it. We made a huge joke out of it and I was quick to try to diffuse that situation. Because I thought, “How ignorant is it of people to comment on her hair and she still has more competitions to go. Are you TRYING to ruin her self confidence? She has to go out there and feel good about herself, and if she feels good about herself on that floor, who are YOU to criticize her? What have YOU done to help contribute to her dream, that you felt it necessary to put it out there so that she could see it.
I love Mrs. Hawkins. But she is not done. She has this to add regarding Gabby’s training schedule, and Gabby living with white people:
I remember sometime last year The Game proposed to his fiance Tiffany Cambridge on video. It was quite cute and public and all. Seems like everything was going fine until Tiffany called off the wedding back in July, a mere week or so before they were set to walk down the aisle.
Well the wedding is back on, according to The Game. He and Tiffany talked to the people of TMZ to explain that the wedding is indeed on again but The Game says they’ve lost about $100,000 in cancellation fees. Ouch. Check out the video, when you continue…
