Do you guys remember the Time Magazine cover of Jaime Lynne Grumet breastfeeding her 3 year old son? It was an extreme magazine cover that sparked a huge talk in breast feeding and how long one should breast feed all over the country. And it seems that it was such a hot topic that executive producer Jeff Collins is developing a new show about extreme parenting. Collins, who is the person behind Lifetime‘s Dance Moms, said that he was inspired by the Time cover to push a show such as this, according to Yahoo! Shine.
“That [Time magazine] cover proves what I’ve been saying for the last year — America has become a country of extremes,” Jeff Collins, president of Collins Avenue Productions, told Yahoo! Shine. “I think it’s so fascinating that some Americans find the image of woman breastfeeding to be provocative, shocking, even sexual when, in fact, it’s the most natural thing in the world.”
Collins said there’s also going to be stories about other types of parenting extremes, not just toddler breast feeding. No word yet on when the show will air but it most likely will start in the fall. Back in January this year, Eric Benet tweeted the picture above of his girlfriend breast feeding their daughter and that sparked a pretty big debate here on the site. So what do you think? Is America ready for this? Will you watch it?
