So now I understand why the BET Awards is a BIG DEAL. The theme this year, BIG, was spot on. MrsGrapevine.com has been credentialed to cover the BET Awards or other BET events as media in the past, and often times I send a representative to do the work, and just watch from the comforts of my home, tweeting my most honest unfiltered opinions. Well, this year I decided that as the owner of this site, that if I get credentials, I’m going to work this event, and work it I did. I have to say it was one of the most humbling experiences of my life, and truly gave me a deeper respect for BET and all of the work that goes into pulling off an event this BIG. An event that honors the accomplishments of so many people of color. Working the BET Awards gave me a new found respect for celebrities, media, and the many faces that go unrecognized who help put this event together for our critical pleasure. I learned that it’s easy to sit at home and tweet jokes, or pick apart the things that go wrong. I discovered that it’s easier being critical when you don’t know all of the work involved under the hot summer sun. Most importantly, I learned that as bloggers we are sometimes so quick to judge that we forget to praise the things that are so right; the people that work so hard; and the time devoted to entertain and honor US so often.

I just have to especially thank Keesha Wallace, and she knows why. I will just say that I am grateful. She was very professional and did a GREAT job regulating and executing media logistics, which is probably the hardest job. Thanks!
