Eff cancer! I would like to end the post there, but I can’t. Adam Yauch aka MCA was founder of the best alternative rap group EVER!!!… is dead. Remaining members of the Beastie Boys confirm the news via their website:
It is with great sadness that we confirm that musician, rapper, activist and director Adam “MCA” Yauch, founding member of Beastie Boys and also of the Milarepa Foundation that produced the Tibetan Freedom Concert benefits, and film production and distribution company Oscilloscope Laboratories, passed away in his native New York City this morning after a near-three-year battle with cancer. He was 47 years old.
Yauch’s mother Frances told the New York Times that her son died at 9 a.m. Friday, surrounded by family, at Manhattan’s New York-Presbyterian Hospital, to which he had been admitted on April 14. {via Huff Post}
It’s hurts! It just feels like all of the greats of our time is just passing away. I have been traveling down memory lane a lot due to celebrity deaths.
