Last night, Lexus held the Verses & Flow Live private event in Dallas, a unique event that was created to honor talented up and coming music artists and spoken word poets. I had the pleasure of being on location for this event and snapped a few pics along the way! The MC for the event was comedianne Ebony Steele, co-host of The Rickey Smiley Morning Show. The highlight of the evening came when Lexus presented their 2012 Lexus Pursuit Of Perfection award to this year’s recipient, actress Gabrielle Union.
Recorded words of congratulations were shown, from actor Hill Harper, who was last year’s recipient, and Gabrielle‘s boyfriend NBA star Dwyane Wade (who sang a small bit of Vesta‘s Congratulations for Gabrielle, eliciting AWWWWWWs from the women in the crowd). During her acceptance speech, Gabrielle talked about the murder of Trayvon Martin, saying that she has had difficulty sleeping and forgetting the cries for help Trayvon made during the 911 phone call. As an avid activist in the fight against breast cancer, Gabrielle accepted her award on behalf of “those who continue to fight”, whether it be for justice, for cancer research or for life. There was also a performance by up & coming artist Luke James! Check out LOTS more pictures from the event and see if Lexus will bring Verses & Flow to your city, when you continue…
I’m sorry but I have to take a moment to LMAO at this. Andy Cohen might have thrusted singer Clay Aiken into a war with Rihanna and her “Navy” with this one. Andy, host of Bravo TV‘s Watch What Happens Live questioned Clay during a segment called Plead The Fifth, in which Andy asks 3 questions and a guest can “plead the fifth” on only one answer.
Clay mans up and answers all three questions! He plays Marry, Screw, Kill with his former American Idol judges, reveals if he has had any plastic surgery and let’s us know that, if he had to pick a current pop star that wouldn’t make it on American Idol today, it’s Rihanna. LMAO! I mean, Andy didn’t even ask why but Clay sure as hell let us know why she wouldn’t! Watch the clip, after the jump…
Singer, Ciara attending the flagship opening for Valentino on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills last night. She glammed up with a new blonde look and we love her crystal clear Valentino clutch bag.
What do you think about her new look?
Have you seen “The Hunger Games” yet?
If you haven’t, don’t worry. No spoilers here… but I must comment on one actress that stuck out in particular. While every actor in the movie from Jennifer Lawrence and Lenny Kravitz delivered Oscar worthy and/or memorable performances we want to spotlight, Amandala Stenberg, the beautiful young actress who played Rue.
We won’t get into the racist backlash from young fans who were surprised that Rue was Black, but we want to feature a young actress who clearly has a bright future ahead of her. Represented by Osbrink Talent Agency, we hope to see her in many more movies to come.
I will admit, I did not read the book (even though I have all three at home), but I remember watching the movie opening night at the midnight screening and the collective gasp in the audience from the young movie goers when
OK. I’m all for a good joke but this is on the side of crass, if you ask me. Chops & Hops, a steakhouse in Watkinsville, GA has recently dropped a sandwich they created, which was themed after Chris Brown and Rihanna‘s infamous 2009 domestic abuse incident, according to MSNBC. Called the Caribbean Black And Bleu sandwich, the restaurant takes numerous shots at Chris Brown in particular in the captioned description of the sandwich:
…@chrisbrown, @rihanna and us teamed up for a award winning celebrity sandwich. Put your hands on this caribbean black and bleu sandwich. Caribbean spiced marinated sliced ribeye blackened then look out for the bleu cheese, sliced tomato, silver Lamborghini onions, and shredded romaine. Chris Brown won’t beat you up for eating this unless your name starts with a R and ends with A.
Wow. How low can you go? Honestly, they could have done without the celebrity reference, because the sandwich itself sounds pretty good to me but taking that extra unnecessary step? Bad form. After receiving a lot of critism on Facebook, where they posted the picture, the restaurant decided to take the the sandwich off the menu and released this back-pedaling statement below:
