Have you seen “The Hunger Games” yet?
If you haven’t, don’t worry. No spoilers here… but I must comment on one actress that stuck out in particular. While every actor in the movie from Jennifer Lawrence and Lenny Kravitz delivered Oscar worthy and/or memorable performances we want to spotlight, Amandala Stenberg, the beautiful young actress who played Rue.
We won’t get into the racist backlash from young fans who were surprised that Rue was Black, but we want to feature a young actress who clearly has a bright future ahead of her. Represented by Osbrink Talent Agency, we hope to see her in many more movies to come.
I will admit, I did not read the book (even though I have all three at home), but I remember watching the movie opening night at the midnight screening and the collective gasp in the audience from the young movie goers when
OK. I’m all for a good joke but this is on the side of crass, if you ask me. Chops & Hops, a steakhouse in Watkinsville, GA has recently dropped a sandwich they created, which was themed after Chris Brown and Rihanna‘s infamous 2009 domestic abuse incident, according to MSNBC. Called the Caribbean Black And Bleu sandwich, the restaurant takes numerous shots at Chris Brown in particular in the captioned description of the sandwich:
…@chrisbrown, @rihanna and us teamed up for a award winning celebrity sandwich. Put your hands on this caribbean black and bleu sandwich. Caribbean spiced marinated sliced ribeye blackened then look out for the bleu cheese, sliced tomato, silver Lamborghini onions, and shredded romaine. Chris Brown won’t beat you up for eating this unless your name starts with a R and ends with A.
Wow. How low can you go? Honestly, they could have done without the celebrity reference, because the sandwich itself sounds pretty good to me but taking that extra unnecessary step? Bad form. After receiving a lot of critism on Facebook, where they posted the picture, the restaurant decided to take the the sandwich off the menu and released this back-pedaling statement below:
In an effort to fight internet rumors started by *clears my throat* MTO, Emily Bustamante tweeted a baby picture to prove that she is all real. Yesterday, MTO started a rumor that Emily B had some plastic surgery work done to make her eyes look more almond-shaped, insinuating that she looks more Asian since the filming of Love & Hip-Hop. Although NO ONE believed the rumors were true, Emily B still wants you to know that she is an all natural Latina bi-product of Puerto Rican and Dominican blood.
Check out Emily B’s tweets and the infamous picture that lead to the plastic surgery “eye-botox” rumors:
Yesterday marked the 17 year anniversary of Hip Hop legend Eazy-E‘s death. And in a touching tribute, his daughter, 20 year old Erin Bria Wright, recreated album covers from Eazy-E‘s solo career to pay tribute to her late father, according to Billboard.
“It’s been 17 long years since my father passed away and I miss him dearly,” she said in a statement. “This year I decided to pay homage to him by recreating two of his most famous album covers, I feel so proud to be apart of his history. Hopefully one day he will finally get the recognition he truly deserves for his impact and accomplishments that paved the way for so many artists and urban music moguls of today. I love you Dad, R.I.P.”
She’s a beautiful girl and the photos are really amazing. Check out her tribute photos and Eazy-E’s iconic album covers, when you continue…
I don’t know about y’all but I’m sending up some prayers, right now. Actor Denzel Washington is reportedly sick with a ‘mysterious illness’, according to MSN. Denzel was set to host the 100th Anniversary gala of the Boys & Girls Club Of America’s Mount Vernon, NY chapter when he was overcome with an illness just hours before the event.
Real talk, I hope it’s just a stomach virus or something simple because I don’t want to lose any more icons this year. Or at least not for a while. Not that I have control over it but if we lose Hollywood and musical greatness all at once, what are we left with? *Shudders at the thought* Denzel was able to get a fellow iconic thespian to stand in his place for hosting duties.
