…and the saga continues. It’s unclear which substance the singer was under, but Bobby Brown was indeed arrested for driving under the influence of something near LA. As I type this story, his people are on their way to bail him out of jail. I hope this doesn’t affect the New Edition concert in Houston, TX on Sunday, not trying to be selfish but I love me some New Edition plus Bobby Brown, and I have been waiting for this reunion for over 10 years now. *don’t judge me*
Check out the details according to TMZ when you continue…The stress of the tour, the family drama, and the recent deaths, I hope Bobby Brown can remember how far he has come…
@QUESTLOVE tweets after last night’s episode of Mad Men: Wow, this is THEE most black people I’ve ever seen on #MadMen
Last night, the two-hour premiere of Mad Men was the most-watched episode for the show ever! According to TheWrap.com, the season five premiere of “Mad Men” scored the show’s biggest audience yet, as 3.5 million viewers tuned in after the show’s 17-month absence.
The show got off to a slow start last night, but who cares-this is what we love about Mad Men. The dynamic between the characters on screen and subtext is what keeps us tuning in.
The scenes that stood out to me of course was the new Mrs.Draper singing Zou Bisou Bisou as part of her surprise to hubby Don Draper. AMC knew this scene would be a big hit because the song is now available on iTunes as sung by Jessica Pare’.
Now, I think this is the moment a lot of us have been waiting for and that is to see some diversity in the casting for Mad Men. As I caught up on the show during its 17-month hiatus (which was due to contract negotiations behind the scenes with the show’s creator, AMC and Lionsgate), it took a while, but I started to realize that the show failed to represent African-Americans in the work force on the agency level. What I love about Mad Men is that it provides a glimpse in to the good ole boys network in the advertising industry on Madison Avenue during the 60s, but I would love to learn more about how some of these companies became more integrated. Mad Men has skillfully portrayed old school sexism and racism in corporate America so as last night’s episode touched on hiring an African-American secretary as an equal employer opportunity, I am excited to see what’s in store-even if it did start out as a joke. I will have to do some digging around to see if they are going to add a new African-American actress.
Stay tuned…But what did you think of the two-hour premiere of Mad Men?
