For as long as I can remember, Black women in America have always had to struggle with the “angry Black woman” stereotype.  And it seems that even as the First Lady of The United States, Michelle Obama has to deal with the same issues.  She sat down with Gayle King of CBS This Morning and addressed this stereotype that she’s had to deal with for sometime.

You know, I just try to be me and my hope is that over time, people get to know me. And they get to judge me, for me.

Michelle said she had no plans to read a new book called The Obamas, written by the New York Times Washington correspondant Jodi Kantor.  The book is said to portray her as a frustrated woman, who is insecure in her role.  Without even reading that book, and just going by Michelle‘s initiatives and her presence, I don’t believe that at all.  Check out a clip of the interview, after the jump… Continue Reading →
