I don’t know about you, but I personally was saddened to hear that Seal and his wife Heidi Klum were separating after seven years of marriage. Aside from destructive marriages, separation and divorce is never an easy decision to make or an easy time in anyone’s life. So when Seal appeared on Tavis Smiley to discuss his new album Soul 2, Tavis asked Seal how he was dealing with separation during a time when he’s promoting an album that has a romantic feeling to it.

To answer your question, in short…we have a tremendous amount of love and respect for each other. And so…and also, of course, our children are our first priority and I think we’ve pretty much said everything we needed to say in the statement that we released. How does one stay focused? Just because you decide to separate, I don’t think you automatically stop loving each other…
