Two weeks ago, I interviewed Jackie Christie of Basketball Wives LA, and during the interview she talks about her daughter Ta’kari Lee (21), and their estranged relationship. Well today, Ta’kari Lee Christie has released a blog putting her mother on blast for living a double life on screen and off the screen. I’m probably one of the only people that is not about to jump on the Ta’kari Lee band wagon, and call Jackie Christie a fraud. Anyone who is willing to put their family members or closest friends on blast for profit *whispers Evelyn too*, is a suspicious person in my book, especially while your family is going through a tragedy. I definitely don’t think this is what the grandma would want.

Ta’kari Lee is Jackie’s oldest daughter from a previous marriage, and Jackie acknowledges to me that their relationship is estranged. She does not go into details or put her daughter on blast, but simply says:

Ta’kari is 21. Ta’kari and I are estranged, she’s going through some things right now, but I love my daughter to death. I love all of my kids!

Ta’kari on the other hand wants you to know every dirty little secret about her mother, Dough Christie, and her aunts, too. From reading her blog there is definitely some deep down resentment, and a lack of respect for Jackie. I can’t believe the level of hatred she has for mother, it’s almost scary. Perhaps, therapy is needed more than fame:

All I ever asked you for is the same amount of love you have for your other kids or even if you just care for me the same – you don’t give me the same opportunity. I used to tell you guys growing up i wanted a RANGE ROVER you got me a FORD FOCUS and Chani the RANGE, promising to put me in the studio and waiting until you ran me from home and started Chani a music career.

When reading this stuff, you have to read between the lines because there are always two sides to the story. Ta’Kari is ranting about how bad her mother is while living in a house her mother owns, and she hasn’t been paying rent. Isn’t she a grown woman? When she can’t pay the rent, she gets mad at her mother for wanting to kick her out and mover her to another place. She calls her mother evil, yet during her rant, she reveals that Jackie has several homes in which her family members are living in, and she is paying for. More money, more problems! This doesn’t sound like a evil mother, this sounds like a dysfunctional family where money is at the heart of many issues.

Fuck that bitch I hate her why would I ever speak to her? – Look at what’s she’s doing! That bitch has hated me forever and she has done everything she possibly can to make me feel bad. Fuck that evil bitch – I can believe you’re doing it to me but your own grandkids? I offered to pay you and you turned me down so your evil ass could do this to me! I have screenshots of every instant message I have sent you in the last 3 days and I told you to allow me to find somewhere for me and my kids and we would be gone! The hot water doesn’t work, the fridge doesn’t work, the ovens don’t work, the lights leak – when I moved in the ceiling was caving in, and there’s mold on the wood.”

I yelled into the phone trying to tell her what she was taking wasn’t just a house – it was a home to us and we were trying g as fast as we could to find a decent place to take our family. “You act like it’s something grand or like I’m trying to take over your house, or don’t want to leave, I told you days ago I would leave when I found a place and we would be gone in 2 weeks and you acted like it was all good, you just waited for any chance you get to prove you hate me and have control over everyone, well I’m going to tell the world what kind of narcissistic monster you are”.

I yelled from across the room into the speaker phone. “Just watch and see – I’m telling who you really are, you won’t pay to keep me quiet and you can have that toy car you gave me back – whatever- take it all Jackie”.

Not that I’m trying to defend Jackie, but something is not right with situation from both sides. Ta’kari is 21 with two children, 2 years old and nine months, and writing a book around the time her mother has reality show.

The Scene About My Grandma and Her Cancer..SmH.. I am Not Doubting That She Was Sad About My Grandmas Condition…But I Wonder If Tanya Talking About Cherishing The Memories U Have With The People U Love Hit A nerve For Her… She Knows Like My Grandma And I Know – My Grandma Was Always Being Disrespected and Treated Badly… And The Same Way I compare My Relationship With My Mom Like Being In A Violent Relationship – Although My Mom Was NOT Physically Abusive… She Was Very Mentally and Verbally Abusive – Not Just To Us Kids But My Grandma As Well… She Would Lash Out At Us And Make Us Feel So Low Then Try To Correct It With Other Things..Like An Abusive Husband Beating Your Ass And Then Buying U Flowers Or Gifts…{Via Miss Jia}

Ta’kari is on her blog calling her mother all kinds of name short of human, and using four letter words like there aren’t any other words in the English language. Seems like Ta’Kari may be just like the woman she claims her mother is, and sadly doesn’t even realize it, yet. Words hurt! On the other hand, there is no way I would be doing a reality show with all of this going on. Get your house in order first, and handle this stuff privately. Everyone wants to be rich, even if it comes from pain. As you can see money is not worth it. PRIORITIES!

I have so many questions for Ta’kari. Why is her last name Christie and not Lee? Why does she defend Doug over her mother? Who really raised her? Why does she have two kids? Was she really committed to a mental institution? Was the Ford Focus free? Does she have a job, an education? Was grandma really in poverty?

I have so many questions for Jackie, too. Instead of getting re-married, shouldn’t you re-birth your kids, or something? Where’s the family counseling? How you give one child a Ford Focus and the other a Range Rover? Why not two Ford Focus, what kid needs a Range Rover? Why aren’t you claiming your grandmother status?

As much as we think reality TV is real, it’s not. If it can be edited, it’s not real. Behind the TV are real people with real issues. We like to pass judgement, but if people could dig in our back yards, I bet it wouldn’t be pretty, but of course we probably wouldn’t go on national TV either.

Your mother gave you a car, it should not matter what kind it was. You are 21 and compare yourself to your sister. 2 kids and you still acting like a jealous brat! Get a job and shut your mouth, or go to school. Just because she is your mother that doesn’t mean you can bad mouth her because she did not give you what you wanted. It’s so funny for some to say ur mother gave u a car ur selfish! When u have kids u love them equally no matter who the father is! How can u buy one a Range and not thee other that’s favortism!   I don’t think it’s just the car. I think there are holes in her story that makes her sound a little biased. First her mother gave a car, we don’t know why she didn’t get Range Rover, but it probably has something to do with Jackie and Doug helping out in other ways because she is 21 with two kids.
  
  Secondly, the daughter calls her mother a b-word, and other cuss words. Sounds like a lot of disrespect to me. I don’t care what you think of your mother, there is no need to call her out of her name.
  
  Thirdly, TaKari was living in a house her mother owned with her boyfriend, baby daddy #2. Neither of them were paying the bills like they were suppose to. Two so called grown people living in someone else house and not being responsible. I don’t know where they do that at. I don’t even know why she is allowed to shack in her mother’s property in the first place. My mother would have said no man [period] unless you’re married, and even then he has to work.
  
  Lastly, she’s talking about how disrespectful Jackie is to the grandma, and how she use to make her grandma cry. Well it’s sound like the apple didn’t fall far from the tree because I can see Takari has probably made her mother cry plenty of times, and she is so disrespectful.
  
  This doesn’t mean Jackie doesn’t do anything wrong. As a mother, I have some serious concerns, too, about the allegations. But making a book to sell out a love one just sounds selfish to me. The main goal would be to get some counseling and some much needed therapy. I have a feeling they love each other too much, but past circumstances keeps getting in the way of a recovery.

    @MrsGrapevine 2, I understand where TaKari is coming from, if you going treat one daughter different than the other, there will be resentment.
    
    TaKari says Jackie is allowing family members to live in other homes she owns without paying rent, but TaKari is expected to pay, this doesn’t sound fair, and Jackie buys a Range Rover for one daughter and not the other is setting up resentment.
    
    If what TaKari is saying is the truth then I understand why she doesn’t feel loved. If Jackie’s thinking is she has done a lot for TaKari and her two kids already then that needs to be explained to TaKari.
    
    However, to demand that TaKari pay rent and not the other family members is sending a message to TaKari that she needs to pay back Jackie for the help already extended.
    
    Jackie should have been on TaKari case with birth control pills and communication to prevent TaKari’s situation, and at the same time promoting independence across the board.
    
    Watching Basketball Wives LA, Jackie seems to be the one causing division and drama. Maybe TaKari has a point

    Secondly, you don’t allow a man to live in your mom’s house rent free. This is not about the house, it’s about watching your daughter continue to make the wrong decisions and Ta’Kari can’t see that.
    
    Why isn’t this man providing for Ta’kari and his kid, and if he can’t provide, why is he living off of them rent free.
    
    I love both of my kids to death, but I am not letting them shack up on my dime.

    However, from what TaKari has stated, other family members are living rent free in homes owned by Jackie, and who knows how many extra folks are living in those homes without paying.
    
    Therefore, the rule should be applied across the broad or you will end up showing favoritism.

    Every child is different and you can never expect your children to all act the same–it is unrealistic.

    If every child is different, then why would you treat them the same. You treat each child according to their strengths, weaknesses, and needs. Because they each have different lessons to learn in order to grow.
    
    We don’t know the circumstances, and only have one side of the story. But it sounds like no matter what the family has done for Ta’Kari it isn’t enough because of deep resentment. It may not all be on Jackie. There may also be some insecurities involved. I think these issues are a lot deeper than favoritism.

    It is the love that TaKari is missing, which shows up as a rejection. TaKari’s anger is a result of that rejection.
    
    Jackie may love and appreciate her younger daughter because she didn’t get pregnant and is pressuring a career, but that’s not a reason for Jackie to appreciate one more than the other.
    
    Favoritism causes low-self esteem, feeling you’re not good enough to be treated the same.

    I agree with a lot of what you are saying, but I also have feeling no matter what Jackie does for her daughter, the daughter will question it’s authenticity.
    
    I think the issues stems from Jackie having Ta’Kari young, and not staying around to be a mother. By the time Jackie steps back in, Ta’Kari has a lot of resentment and continues to act out. They really need some counseling and some forgiveness in their lives, if they want to have a relationship.

Listening to TaKari’s story opens up a scar in my heart and the flood gates opened up. I was treated differently and felt resentment towards my sister who my father loved more.

I searched for love and acceptance outside only to get pregnant at the age of 17, which caused my father to resent me even more. But what he failed to realize is had he loved me and treated me like his little girl, I would have never sought it elsewhere.

The resentment I felt inside was passed on to my son is the damage caused by treating kids differently.

I think it’s interesting how some black parents think just because they provide a room and board for their kids that they’ve raised them. Start actually finding out what your children are thinking, who they’re associating with, and how they feel about your relationship in the first place then U won’t have to worry about them airing your dirty laundry later in life. Also, a lot of African American mothers show favoritism towards certain children over others in the family because of complexion differences, hair type and/or who the father is. Those who are ignorant enough to do that to another human being get what they deserve in the long run for perpetuating the Bullsh**. There is a reality that no one actually knows – there is perception and then a persons truth. I will say, I personally know that Jackie loves her child and when one is young – a mother and had a skewed background urself – it leaves room for perceived parenting. The truth is – Ta’Kari has a perception – her facts are riddled with bitter and although Jackie is not perfect – the ill perceptions of her are not warranted… Of this I know…

If you look at how jackie acts on the show. I mean really pay close attention to how she acts you can tell that something is wrong with her. Even before this stuff with her daughter. she acts like a child to me. She is to old to be acting like that. i am 21 and my mom did not raise me and she was not perfect but i would never speak about her tht way. tht girl is filthy ungrateful and spoilt. she wants her mom to bow and worship her. so wht ur child hood was not perfect so wht u didnt get the range u got the ford? omg she is psycho!! she needs to find a real man to take care of her and her kids not her mom. and if thts the way she treats her mom i dont wrong jackie favouring the other daughter she is only human how much rejection and disrespect can one person take. jackie u are a bit wacky but this child is impossible!! she needs to grow up and stop blaming her mom for her problems others have been through worst and are not as bitter and rotten as her. somebody needs to slap the sense back into this bitch and send her to family planning clinics.
