Musiq Soulchild has relocated to Atlanta. This past weekend, Musiq Soulchild hosted a special luncheon at Maggiano’s sponsored by Atlantic, to promote his new album, Musiq In The Magiq. Merita McCalister was able to get up close and personal with Musiq in a special interview for MrsGrapevine.com readers, plus a few pics. Enjoy!
On the title of his new album:
It’s not like I sit around and literally wait on the words; I just bounce around a lot of ideas in my head and whichever sticks out the most, I roll with that. The word magic just kept popping up for some reason, I don’t really know why but, it was the word that kept popping in my head and I said ‘okay, there is no way of really getting around that;’ I can choose to ignore it but I like things to come as they do so they can be authentic.

Elle Magazine honors women of music past and present, and in this special issue Elle features some of the best in music shot by photographer Daniel King. Included among the pages are Aretha Franklin talking about her size, Nicki Minaj on playing with boys, Willow Smith discussing the sound of her new album, and Jennifer Hudson on singing with the drag queens.
In high school I was like, ‘Well, these are drag queens lip-synching, and I can really sing; why can’t I go up there?’ I would win all the talent shows.”

Mariah Carey shows off her nude baby bump for Life & Style Magazine. I knew this photo shoot was coming soon after the tweets and twitpics. Mariah Carey is pregnant with twins, a girl and a boy, and wanted to document this moment for her “true fans”.
The babies were kicking almost the entire time; it was unbelievable, especially the girl — clearly she’s a diva in training! We didn’t start shooting until 1:30 a.m. because I was in the hospital from the night before until the day of the shoot with contractions five minutes apart!”

One of my favorite songs right now is Marsha Ambrosia’s Far Away, there is something hauntingly familiar about it and I just love this song! While listening to the radio this weekend, the radio DJ called the video shocking and disturbing, but not necessarily in a good way. The video touches on homosexuality and suicide. While watching the video online, I came across a quote that really stopped me in my tracks: “Is mainstream media pushing a homosexual agenda onto our kids:”
They’re really trying to push their h*mo agenda on our children aren’t they. Being g*y is not cool” and “Stop trying to justify h*mosexuality. You people [sic] seem to forget that GOD DOES NOT CONDONE h*moSEXUALITY. Your [sic] sympathetic babble sounds good, but IT’S A SIN… PERIOD!!!! You say it’s ok. GOD says otherwise. I’m rolling with GOD {via Soul Culture}

There are many people that feel this way, and it’s a conversation Read More Here…
Kelly Rowland has a steaming hot new video for her new single, Motivation, and the choreography is on point. Kelly Rowland body is on point, too. I wonder how often she hits the gym. Anyway, Lil Wayne is featured in the video as well, and he gets me with these lines:
I put her on my plate then I do the dishes…

Evelyn Lozada will be returning to Basketball Wives worth twice as much as before. I guess her “threats” to leave the show really paid off, and all the drama she caused last season wasn’t in vain. This can only mean one thing, season 3 will be the best season ever!!!

After Chris Brown lost his temper on ABC’s Good Morning America, and allegedly smashed a window, comedian Rosie O’Donnell (who use to work for ABC at The View), defends Chris Brown against the network. On her XM radio show, Rosie O’Donnell questioned the media biased against Chris Brown compared to other entertainers, and felt “mildly angry” at Robin Roberts during Breezy’s interview on GMA:
I just don’t know why this kid seems to be held to a different standard than anyone else. I totally think there is [a racial bias], and I also think it’s why he felt he was safer with Robin Roberts [African-American]…I felt mildly angry at Robin Roberts. I felt like writing her and going: ‘Can you take a look at this again and see if maybe you find — in any way — your responsibility in this?

Rosie O’Donnell understand what it’s like to be type-cast as angry, and even goes in on ABC and The View after defending Chris Brown. Plus I hear Chris Brown put it on Kristie Alley, more details when you continue…
