The Senate repealed the Don’t Tell, Don’t Ask law put into place by President Clinton seventeen years ago. The bill passed with a vote of 65-31. This is the first real legislation that Democrats promised and passed. President Obama has regained some respect from the liberals, especially after he caved in on the tax cut deal. The repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell is one 2008 campaign promise that you can now check off the list. Seven Republicans crossed over the aisle to make sure this legislation passed, also making it a bipartisan effort. I think this is the first time Republicans parted ways with the majority of their comrades on a major piece of liberal legislation.
