This was a busy weekend in the ATL, because the 2010 BET Hip Hop Awards was in town. Black Hollywood as I like to call it, was taken over by celebrity sightings. I have a few exclusive photos for our MrsGrapevine.com readers.

Rapper Princess of Crime Mob was spotted this weekend, kicking with Rocsi of 106 & Park, D-Woods of Danity Kane, and D-Wood’s sister and Young Money artist Shanell.

Congrats! Ebony Magazine Turns 65

Posted by on Oct 4, 2010 in Celebrity Magazine, Magazine Covers | Comments Off

I didn’t realize how old Ebony magazine is, I knew it was around before me. It’s amazing that the magazine has had such longevity. Especially in a market that is cruel, with many turn-overs and unders. Congrats to Ebony Magazine, I hope it can continue to stay in print or transform successfully into an online magazine. Here’s the November cover straight from Entertainment RundownOn news stand October 12th

Ebony celebrates turning 65 with a Special Collector’s Edition. The mag features this special gatefold cover (click image  to enlarge) of Samuel L. Jackson, Usher and Nia Long, Mary J. Blige and Taraji P. Henson. The  issue honors some of Ebony’s most iconic past covers: Duke Ellington, Diana Ross, Shaft and Martin Luther King re-imagined with the help of yet more fresh, modern celebrities like Regina King, Yolanda Adams and John Legend.

VIDEO: Kelly Rowland Sings National Anthem While NFL Promotes Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Posted by on Oct 4, 2010 in Celebrity Charity, Celebrity Honors, Videos | 6 comments

I got a little teary-eyed when I saw all that pink. I lost my mom to cancer, so it was a bitter-sweet emotional moment. To top it off, one of my favorite artists out there, Kelly Rowland, performed the National Anthem. Moments like this just make you proud to be an American, because we’re just always full of humanitarian surprises. Check out the video of Kelly Rowland singing the Nationa Anthem at the Chicago Bears V. NY Giants game. Some of the men had some tears in their eyes…

P.S. – This is a positive post about something good, I wonder how man of those positive people will support this post.

Kontrol Magazine Featuring Dondria & Goapele

Posted by on Oct 4, 2010 in Celebrity Magazine, Celebrity Music | 2 comments

Lil Kim covers this month’s issue of Kontrol Magazine, but also in the pages are spreads of Dondria and Goapele. These two beautiful women are making great music that seldom reaches the same level of fame as artists like Rihanna and Beyonce, but they are very talented singers and they make R&B worth listening to. I just thought I’ll give some other celebs a chance to shine, too, although I am patiently waiting to hear Beyonce’s new single. Real music is dying, and I think Kontrol magazines agree with me, and thus this issue features two genuine talents.

With so many label infused looks and sounds, genuine music is hard to come by. If you have ever gotten the opportunity to run into your favorite celebrity and you’re shocked because he/she is nothing like what they personify, you have just witnessed label work at its best. Today, many artists are the product of their label; everything from their sound to their image is constructed by a team of big-wigs that make minor suggestions on what will sell, which quickly turns into an identity crisis for the artists.

KONTROL Confessions Issue Goapele 2 Kontrol Magazine Featuring Dondria & Goapele

Kontrol would like to reintroduce Goapele. With a self-described sound of Eclectic-soul, Goapele is one of 2010’s, artist to watch out for. Her throwback style and honest lyrics give more than enough reason to become smitten with the Bay area flower child. With a new album expected in late fall, the serene voice behind Closer sits down with Kontrol to discuss what she’s been up to and her upcoming album entitled Milk & Honey. {Read the rest}
