Essence Magazine: Gabrielle Union Admits That Therapy Helped Her
Essence Magazine caught up with Gabrielle Union after their 40th anniversary Fierce and Fabulous Awards Luncheon the other day. Gabrielle admitted that she needed help finding her way in the industry and found help by going to a therapist.
When Essence Magazine asks Gabrielle how she mutes all the negativity in her life, she responds:
UNION: A lot of therapy. Ron Artest and I sing the praises of therapy. Sometimes you get in your own way and your fear of failure; your fear of your childhood hurts comes back to influence your decisions. All that gets in the way of progress and your own beauty and your own accomplishments and capabilities. And once you get to [asking] ‘why are you so fearful?’ and you can acknowledge it, deal with it and then let it go. You’re free to be fierce and fabulous.
When asked what makes her fierce and fabulous?
UNION: The fact that I don’t care. I literally don’t try to be a slave to any trend or anyone’s opinion. I truly just don’t care. I follow my own beat to my own drum and usually it works out.
It’s cool that Gabrielle feels comfortable to tell the public that she goes to therapy. A lot of celebrities try to hide the fact because so that people won’t start rumors that their crazy. Read the rest short interview here.

According to TMZ and Kimora Cochran, Dwight Howard is suing babymama Royce Reed of Basketball Wives for $500 Million. I must say Dwight Howard is acting like Siovaughn Wade by wasting the court’s time with frivolous lawsuits. Just two weeks ago, Royce Reed and Dwight Howard got into a custody dispute, when Howard picked up the couple’s child on a non-custodial day without Reed’s permission.
Because that information made the news and the blogs, Dwight Howard is suing Royce Reed and accusing her of leaking the information to the press, which is a violation of their gag order. He claims he’s tired of Royce Reed bad mouthing him to the media. Give me a break!

Jennifer Hudson is promoting her new figure along with the Weight Watchers weight loss program. While leaving the taping of Live with Regis and Kelly, paparazzi camera were able to get a close up of Jennifer Hudson and Baby David Daniel Otunga, Jr.
Ms. Hudson also stopped by Adolph S. Ochs School in NYC to promote the 3rd Annual Weight Watchers Lose for Good Campaign. Jennifer presented NYC Department of Education with a $10,000 check to help support the Breakfast In the Classroom initiative. The singer/actor also spoke to the kids about the importance of nutrition and healthy eating.

Bokeem Woodbine and his wife, Mahiely Woodbine hit the red carpet showing off her baby bump at the movie premiere of Devil. First off I didn’t know he was married, secondly I always thought he was off in the head. I know he’s just acting, but he plays crazy pretty well. Some of you may be into horror movies, but I am going to stay away from this film. Sorry, but I don’t play when it comes to evil.

The trailer For Colored Girls Who Considered Suicide has just been released, and I can’t wait to see this star-studded cast of Black Hollywood’s best. This movie is based off a play by Ntozake Shange entitled, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf. The Tony nominated play is now a movie produced by Tyler Perry and starring: Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Anika Noni Rose, Loretta Devine, Kerry Washington, Thandie Newton, Janet Jackson, Jurnee Smollett, Kimberly Elise and Macy Gray; plus appearances by Michael Ealy and Khalil Kain. The film was originally scheduled for MLK Day 2011, but it’s now coming to theaters on Novermber 5th, 2010.
This is a real cast of seasoned actors, and Tyler Perry better get this movie right because the play was revolutionary. I hope Mr. Perry was able to translate it into film. Anyway check out the trailer.
