Swizz beatz is a big fan of the arts, a fact that doesn’t get covered much (I wonder why). Well, according to Spread Love, Swizz Beatz participated in an auction at the Nest Event Loft to raise money for The Bronx Charter School for the Arts located in the Hunts Point section of the Bronx. Not only did Swizz Beatz attend the event to raise money for the once “struggling” community, but he also brought a donation along that pulled in a total of $8500 during the auction:
The highlight of the evening happened when Swizz announced a surprise auction item.
“Get tickets for the first show ever at Yankee stadium with Jay-Z and Eminem. You can’t even get these on the streets right now! First class treatment and you get to meet the artists,” said Swizz.
The entire room oohed and aahed when Swizz made his auction announcement. People kept bidding on four tickets until two women made the final bid for $4,500!…And amazingly, a silent bidder requested another four tickets to the concert. So Swizz auctioned off 8 tickets for a total of $8,500!

When asked why he attended the event, Swizzy had this to say:
Art is something that’s amazing. Art keeps kids out of trouble. Art is culture. Art is music. Art is creativity. I believe that giving back and helping is always a plus. Whether it’s in the South Bronx or South Africa, always help. I’m just happy to be a part of it. I was one of these kids in the South Bronx that came from nothing and made it into something. I just love giving back, it’s a blessing. [Read the rest]
