What is going on in Italy? First they convicted the “American”, and now they’re throwing statues at their elected leader. This isn’t funny, PM Silvio Berlusconi, 73, was struck in the face by a statuette in Milan. The attack broke two teeth, fractured his nose, and left him bloodied and bruised. Other than being psycho (mental illness), authorities do not know why Massimo Tartaglia, 42, decided to attack the Italian leader. According to CNN, their may be a multitude of reasons that lead Massimo Taraglia to attack other than his mental instability:
The conservative media-mogul-turned-politician has been dogged by allegations of corruption and is the middle of a messy divorce from his second wife. He was in Milan, his hometown and political base, to stump for a local political ally.
Milan police said Berlusconi’s attacker hit him with a small, metal souvenir replica of the Doumo di Milano, the city’s central cathedral, but it was not immediately clear whether the man swung at the prime minister with the object in his hand or threw it at him.
