Don’t worry girls, it’s happened to me, too. I know that I’m a pretty Dark-skinned black woman. Just change your preference and don’t worry about theirs. I’m engaged to a wonderful, loving hispanic man. Give them time- then when they want us it’ll be too late and we won’t want them anymore.

It’s ALL true! I am a dark-skinned woman and I can’t even count how many times I’ve heard that! I’ve been hearing that since I was in jr.high school and I’m 27!! At 17 yrs. old I heard “Maybe if you were light(er).” when I asked an (ex) friend if he liked me. Trust, it has absolutely nothing to do with self hate or wanting other races or anything. I’ve been literally been pushed to the side for my white/light-skinned friends. We haven’t matured yet, after all this damn time….

this is sad but what he’s saying is true. it’s nothing to do with self-hatred or anything but just sheer reality. i’ve heard from black men myself (not just 2 or 3 black men) that they prefer lighter skin women, its just something they see as more beautiful.
