Following the Michael Jackson memorial and performance of “I’ll be There”, Mariah took to her twitter page to apologize for the quality of her performance. Here’s what she had to say.
Just recovering from the day. Still filled w/sadness as we listen to KJLH in LA(Stevie Wonder’s radio station)paying tribute to MJ.
Trying to sing today was basically impossible for me. I could barely keep myself from crying. I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to pull it together and really do it right, but I was literally choked up when I saw him there in front of me.
One thing I know is, we will never really have to say goodbye to MJ. His legacy lives on through his music and the millions of people. He inspired with his timeless music. He will be forever in our hearts.
I did notice that Mariah’s performance wasn’t up to par. But to be honest she hasn’t performed the way she use to in a while.
In respect for Michael and the memorial I will not say anything negative!

@ Quick
I don’t think it was her emotion either, lately she’s been a studio singer, and not a live one. Couldn’t agree more! She didn’t make the highlights.

I kinda have to sympathize with her poor performance as I’m sure she genuinely wasn’t able to keep her composure-I definitely wouldn’t have wanted to perform at the funeral of someone that I loved and admired.

Willing to give MC the benefit of the doubt on this one.
Although she is a professional entertainer, she is also very human.
I applaud her for making the effort despite her emotional state.
