I missed my Old School Family so much. Y’all are the most progressive and genuine bloggers I know. Celebrity bloggers (Perez Hilton) can be very vicious and mean spirited, and I’m glad I have a network of people like you.
I have not been a fan of Michael Jackson in recent years, but my childhood is filled with wonderful memories of the most complex individual of my time. We joked about him so much, and took his talents for granted and like an old friend said, “Death adds value to life. (Thanks J Kristopher).
But today we celebrate our best memories of Micahel Jackson, and so I’m going way back to when I was a little girl listening to Thriller on my blue jean record player. Hands down Thriller is the best, some may say Bad, but sorry it’s Thriller. I have always had an old soul when it comes to music, and so my first choice is not the most popular Michael Jackson song:
This second song is probably the saddest song in the world, next to Man In the Mirror. I love this song because it’s so simple, yet cheesy, but oh so good.
Michael was great at fusing styles and this funk, pop rock combination, is one of his best songs. I forgot about this song until today.
UPDATE:Michael Jackson was officially pronounced dead at 5:26 PM (Central) 2:26 PM (Pacific).
UPDATE:Confirmed by LA Times! *I’m sad!*
UPDATE:No other news outlet is confirming his death, but according to TMZ his death is confirmed. We do not know definitely the condition of Michael Jackson, so let’s keep praying that TMZ is just misinformed, just this once.
I was trying to get here to check on his status, because I got a text he had a heart attack, and as I started typing this I found out he has died. Wow, the King of Pop is dead. I knew he was sick, and I just told my brother-n-law something was seriously wrong, but I was not expecting this on my day off. According to TMZ:
Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon and paramedics were unable to revive him. We’re told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back. [Source]
Usher’s soon to be ex-wife’s BFF is coming to her defense. Friends for nearly two decades, Nyeisha Dewitt couldn’t sit back and let rumors circulate about her friend, Tameka Foster. Rumors, that she insist, aren’t true.
NYEISHA DEWITT: Let me first say that I hope Tameka and Usher can salvage things as a couple. I’ve known Tameka since I was in middle school and she was in high school, and we’ve been friends since. It’s not that I have to defend her or speak on her behalf as if she’s done something wrong, but I simply want people to know everything they read about her isn’t true. It hurts me to read the lies that people write and say about her.
ESSENCE.COM: Is it true she first learned that Usher filed for divorce after reading about it?
DEWITT: She didn’t know that he was going to file. Of course, she knew that there were challenges in their relationship and had been some discord since March and was aware there were some things that needed to be worked through. But did she know that divorce was imminent? No. It was a total surprise.
ESSENCE.COM: Was Tameka also caught off guard by the images of Usher and Def Jam’s Grace Miguel?
DEWITT: I don’t know what it is or isn’t. What I admire about Tameka is that, despite all the gossip, she isn’t bitter or hardened by it. I don’t know how she does it especially with children [from a previous relationship] old enough to read the lies that are written. It’s like having to keep your hands at your side while someone repeatedly punches you in your face.
Gotta give it to her, she has a good friend. One that definitely has her back. Unfortunately, idk, how this interview will make things any easier for Tameka. It will only keep people talking just the same.
