Now, I know if everyone is honest, they would have the electric slide, the hustle, the bus stop, or the casper shuffle on their post today. But since, we all enjoy those moments, I’m going to skip to something else. And you know, I love me some line dancing. As I write this, I just realized this will be my first family reunion without my mother. When I created this theme it was about the good times, but just now I miss my mama…So this first song is dedicated to her.
We love to dance, and old school music is a staple in our family no matter the age. The best is when young and old come together on a classic song that we all know the words to. You know the words to this song, too. You better know the words to this song…
And since everyone else have three songs; This one is for my 30 somethings. What’s a family reunion without sitting and reminiscing with your cousins, back in the day…

Both good choices but I couldn’t listen to the Commodores for the same reason I didn’t post the O’Jays at my spot. Like you, I started thinking about my mom. She passed away in November. I didn’t do a lot of crying at the funeral, but for some reason as we near Mother’s Day, I’m going down and bawling. Guess I was overtaken in November with seeing to other people and not myself.
The Commodores are from my mother’s birth town and we had a big reunion there a while back.
You’re so right on the line dancing, etc. That was why I did McFadden & Whitehead. Even at EW&F at Jazzfest, people were line dancing on the fairgrounds grass.
We know our mothers are still with us but knowing that doesn’t stop the sadness sometimes.
Happy OSF!

Hey, I’m real sorry to hear about your mother. Judging by the song you dedicated to her I’m sure she must have been quite a wonderful woman.
As for line dancing – and you gonna hate me for this – but l ain’t never liked line dancing, the electric slide, or nunna that. I know I’m walkin around widda target on my back for that one, but what can I say? I like dancing one-on-one. Always have. Once it got to getting everyone dancing together en masse was pretty much when I made my exit from the dance floor.
But Happy OSF!

Nice dedication to your mom, cherish the memories…
I absolutely hate that Lenny Williams song and my son loves to sing it!
But I love Ahmad’s Back In The Day! His voice kills me but we that song! I believe he did some gospel after that.
Have a great weekend & hope your son feels better.

Girl I was jammin’ to Ahmad last weekend. What you know about Back in the day? LOL As for the Commodores, all I can say is an afro pick a day will keep them scruffy gruffy mugs away.

I know how hard this particular reunion will be for you without your Mom. Here’s a little hug to help you through (((((you)))))).
I don’t have any family left and I’ve never been to a family reunion but I remember a few school reunions so I went that route: Family Reunion or School Reunion – it’s all Rock and Roll to me!
Happy OSF

There has to be line dancing at family reunion or BBQ! At my family reunion you can tell which couple had been arguing before they got there because the husband will either try to do everything for the wife or he’ll sing Lenny’s song in front of everyone. LOL.
Nice dedication to your mother.

Happy OSF! She is looking down on you and yours with a smile. My guess is that you will grown into the role as matriarch of your family and you will make her proud…
I invite your blog readers to get their mind right with the mellow sounds of Kool and the Gang. Only visit if you can handle summer madness…
peace, Villager

Thank you for your OSF picks. I know you will be able to look around at your kinfolk during your next family reunion and see pieces of your dear mother in every single person.
All the best!
