“If I Were A Boy” the new single from Beyonce had its world premiere on Elvis Duran’s Z100 morning show. Broadcast straight from New York City, “If I Were A Boy” and “Single Ladies” are the two new singles to be released this week from the R&B singer’s upcoming still-untitled third solo album. Judging from the sound, Beyonce has her mind set on country. Toby Gad (the man who produced Fergie’s hit “Big Girls Don’t Cry”) produced “If I Were A Boy.” What are your thoughts?

Moments ago on YouTube a new behind-the-scenes of Beyonce’s “I Am…” recording process surfaced. Wow! I’ve never been a huge Beyonce fan, never thought much of her character (you’d marry a dude who’s mantra is “99 problems but a bitch ain’t one”?!), but this song blew me away. I love the fact that it’s under produced allowing the purity of her vocals to carry the tune. Sweet! Very introspective. Her best ever maybe?

@ Nupe:
In Beyonce’s defense, B#$ch, in that song is not a reference to women, it’s a reference to weak men. He’s not talking about women at all in that song, he’s saying he’s not a B#$ch type of man…
If I was A Boy, seems like Ciara already done that theme. I can appreciate the vocals, but it will have to grow on me….

Thanks for the correction! I’m not much into rap/hip hop, so when I heard the refrain I tuned out the rest. I sit corrected!
Not much familiar with Ciara’s work either, so I had to take this song at face value. It does echo a little of the sound from Gad’s/Fergie’s “Big Girls,” and I was really feelin’ that one, too.

Starts off too slow. I was tempted to skip because I was bored. It’s well below “OK” but still above “trash.”

Anyone else loving that new Lyfe Jennings song? I have it on repeat. Miss B is ready to conquer the music charts once again. I like that she went into a different direction but I would have prefer a vocal switch for both songs. I want her singing style on “IIWAB” on “SLPAROI.”:

I there with you, I’m not impressed, but I’m glad that it seems to be thoughtful and different. Like I said, all her songs usually grow on me. I don’t usually like them instantly…

This has been on my mind, so I had to finally go look up the lyrics. You said that Jay-Z was not talking about women “at all” in the “…But a Bitch Ain’t One” song, but, then, like, why does it start off like so…
“If your having girl problems I feel bad for you son
I got 99 problems but a bitch ain’t one”
Sounds like it’s about women to me. He immediately contrasts his problems with some other dude’s, stating that he (Jay-Z) has a lot of issues, too, but a bitch (aka, girl problems) ain’t one of them.
Color me confused.

UNENTHUSED! She’s a copy cat, and always wants to be in everything. Both songs are garbage… and tell me; please enlighten me… y on earth is this broad singing single ladies when she is not? Shouldn’t she be concentrating more on her marriage right now? Lay low enjoy your man, no? and stop bashin men…we do that shit way too much, yes some men r jerks but so r we!! the only thing I can really commend her on is Flaws and all…that was my all time FAVE!!!! She really delivered on that song b/c we women ARE NOT perfect and some times pretend to be, that song recognized how we can be and we were able to dedicate that to our men as a way to show them hey we know how we can be some times; as hard as it is to admit that…. But these two… UNENTHUSED…leave “If I were a boy” to Ciara…
