We should have chosen another theme, I didn’t realize how controlling Prince is regarding his music. It’s not like someone is going to steal his intellectual property and claim it. I don’t know about you, but I have given more money than necessary to this man, and if I want to post a video of my favorite Prince song, I should be able to. This would have been a great theme, if Prince wasn’t so tight…

You would think that Prince and other performers/groups would like people posting links and info up of their work – it’s free publicity for them and keeps them in the public eye!
If a performer/group wants to control their music then they should put their own YouTube up with small parts of their videos as a “taste”.
Sir Paul McCartney is a savvy promoter and he’s got his own YouTube up.
The only thing I really liked about Prince was his penchant for purple and his name change to “The Artist Formerly Known As Prince” – that cracked me up.

I love Prince no matter how eccentric he is. I played along this week also. I just did not post any of his videos.. I just named a few of my favs. It was so hard looking for his stuff..

The entire Purple Rain LP was the soundtrack to my senior year in HS. Yeah, I know I dated myself but that’s ok cause I love me some Prince.

No, we shouldn’t have changed the theme because this brings the discussion of fans having regular access to music and whether it’s fair to the artists or not. Besides, if we have to take them down then fine.. they’ll live on in some weird cyber basket for someone to see.

i have skipped ‘osf’ for this week as well, but nonetheless this prince song is off the heezy. i didn’t really dig the film too much, but the song is worth a few listens.

I took mine from daily motion and uploaded some of my stuff to the blog. I’m surprised the daily motion one is still up. I love this song.
he is eccentric and quite copyright fussy. Besides being a bit of a musical genius he is also a pretty astute marketing and financial genius. lol
