This is too hard, I have so many, and I think I have played enough El Debarge and Lionel Richie. I think I will just play two of my favorite songs that are by male singers. Marvin Gaye, hands down, is the best male singer ever; that’s not an opinion that is a bonafide fact, and I dare you to challenge it.
Anyway, my first pick of the day is by Alexander O’Neal, he is best known for his duets with singer Cherelle. The song I chose, If You Were Here Tonight, just has the perfect tempo. You can drink a glass of wine and think about your love one. Now the video is cheesy, but worth a looky…
My last choice is by the great, great, great Luther Vandross. Some may argue that he is better than Marvin Gaye, but you can’t prove it. Anyway, this song is just one of the most beautiful songs written; it also features the late Gregory Hines. If you haven’t experienced this type of love, then you have never been in love…So Ladies and Gentlemen, I present…There’s Nothing Better Than Love…

I am loving that Luther! He is popular today. I love him and Gregory Hines on this song.
Alexander O Neal was smooth and I loved him and Cherrelle together!

Interesting fact: Did you know he was supposed to be the lead singer for The Time?
Happy OSF!

Alexander O’Neal and that trying to look sexy for the camera was hurting me.
And I too chose Luther, which you knew, he is one of my top.

Luther Vandross – yuppers! And Gregory HInes to boot!
Oh, I so miss Gregory Hines – I just loved to watch that man dance.
I had to devise my own criteria for this post just to keep myself from being up all night deciding!
Think of a little island, some mistaken navigation and add the fact that eventually I would want to come home and that’s my Old School Friday this week!

Alexander O’Neal…for some reason he always made me laugh. He came to my town and said “I love you Cincinnati…” or something like that…I live in Kansas City…
I still get misty when I listen to Luther…I miss him so much!

@ Marvalus:
He makes me laugh whenever I watch his videos, I can only take him seriously by sound, definitely not sight…

Both solid choices. I remember Alexander O’Neal had a cheesy song called Fake, as well.

I’m mad that you said that Marvin Gaye is the best male singer…boooo! LOL! It’s all good because everyone has their opinions. I am a fan of Alexander O’Neal, but surprisingly never heard of the song that you featured; my favorite song by ol’ boy is “What’s Missing”. Now, “There’s Nothing Better Than Love” is my all-time favorite Luther Vandross song; it is so beautiful and one of the best wedding songs to date.
