We have to do this theme again, because their are too many choices. I was going to play November Rain by Guns N Roses, but it’s 10 minutes long, and I know half of you don’t watch the video anyway, So I decided to pick something a little bit shorter. Both these groups are still together, and are the Kings of Rock. The first song is Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi, who is an amazing husband, father, and actor. The second song is Janie’s Got A Gun by Aerosmith. Areosmith have so many hits, I had trouble just picking one song from them alone.

[Wanted Dead or Alive (This song goes hard)]

[Janie's Got A Gun - Areosmith]

You have some really good pics this week. I love Aerosmith. I have to agree with you, this theme has to be done again, too many great songs out there.

I was never much of a Bon Jovi fan, but this song is OK by me, and Janie’s Got A Gun is a classic.

I was loving me some Bon Jovi back in high school. My best friend at the time bought me a poster for my 18th birthday and we sat and stared at Jon Bon Jovi’s crotch for a good 10-15 minutes. He has aged very well I might add. Oh yeah, and “Wanted Dead or Alive” was a classic.

I’ve got a lot of respect for Aerosmith especially since they were down with hip-hop via Run-DMC and “Walk this Way”. And this song is so incredible. Steven Tyler is another one of the great vocalists in Rock. Great choices! Happy OSF!

You can never ever go wrong with Aerosmith. I thought about using either “Dream On” or “I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing” by them. Thanks for giving us a heads up email.

  9. Quick Says:

Happy OSF, not participating today, but i had to stop through and show you some love-

  10. Marvalus Says:

Dead or Alive is the song that made me fall in love with Bon Jovi…

    Jon: “I’m Wanted…”
    Richie: “Waaannnntteddd..”

    That is my favorite part…

    Excellent…have a great weekend!

  11. Marcus LANGFORD Says:

bon jovi made some kick-a** rock music-’dead or alive’ is one my favorites! the guitars in this song get crazy! i like aerosmith too; your pick is not my favorite song by them, but still good nonetheless.

  12. Keith Says:

I was never big on Bon Jovi, but I always did like that song.
Aerosmith, on the other hand, is one of my very favorite bands. I’ve been into their stuff for more than 30 years. Matter of fact, believe it or not, they actually performed at my high school nearly 35 years ago right before they hit it big. One year later they had totally blown up.

And Janie is a great choice!

  13. CeeCee Says:

I’m a total Jersey girl - always liked BonJovi since their first song “Runaway”. And Aerosmith is still going strong after all these years!!

  14. invisiblewoman Says:

I never really got into Bon Jovi for some reason, but Aerosmith are Rock Gods for sure….

the next time you do an old school friday that includes rock songs, could you please reach for some black rock? my top 3 suggestions: jimi hendrix, living colour, fishbone — not necessarily in that order. you could surprise us with some chuck berry. or better yet — you could even go old school and black rock and female, and play some joan armatrading or sister rosetta tharpe. you know. have an all black rock female guitarist old school friday. because trust me — that’s way more interesting than aerosmith.

  18. MrsGrapevine Says:

    @ Queen:

Jimi Hendrix has already been played, and Living Colour may be black, but I disagree that they are better than Areosmith. Could never get into the group, just couldn’t connect to their music. Fishbone is ok, but again not my cup of tea.

Chuck berry is nice, and I love strike piano, but not my favorite. I rather listen to Ray Charles. I could have also played Lenny Kravitz, and I enjoy Lenny at times, the same for Hootie. The guitarist in Guns N Roses (Slash) is black, and so many others.

The point is, I didn’t pick the songs based on the color of the artist, but on the style, and these songs have some grit to them and Iove them.
